I've played through multiple soulsborne games with my friend. We'd get invaded off and on, we'd usually just duel them to save everyone's time, and we'd move on because die or live, it would be a bit before we got invaded again.

In this game, my GOD, it's non-stop. I read somewhere that the timer is something like 5 minutes, and if not, it at least FEELS like that.

If the tradeoff has to be that I can even get invaded in single player, that's FINE. Just not ENDLESSLY.

That is the trade off to having another player in your world, also its not like it is very hard to gank the invaders anyways.

Long cooldowns for coopers is a feature I support.

1. Coopers get both challenge and stress relief
2. Gank squads gets nerfed

Well on the other hand you can turn on the white ring, and have blue phantoms be summoned in endlessly. They really doubled down on the whole PvP is only for making it harder to Co-Op your way through the game idea. Which I don't personally agree with. To me Invasions should be more rare so they are exciting when they happen. So yeah enable solo invasions with several hour long timers would be better to me.

I have a theory that "Bloody Finger" and "Recusant" invaders are two separate timers, experienced killing a Bloody Finger and having a Recusant invade within a minute of each other.

There isn't, and never has been an invasion timer in any of the Souls games, going all the way back to Demon's Souls.

Opening yourself up to invasions is the price you pay for playing on easy mode co-op. Either get good and beat the invader (it's a literal 2 or 3v1) or play offline. Those are your options.

There was an invasion timer iirc in prior games after being invaded but summoning someone or activating the finger usually voided it. There were other actions that influenced the timer as well but I'm not sure of the specifics as I was usually the invader or solo host setting up free for alls with dried finger in swamps and stuff.

Here, I'm not sure if it is as bad as you claim OP but if it is then some type of tweaking so invasions are not absolutely perpetual would be better than adhering to other complaints of opting out of PvP entirely since it would resolve problems on both sides for the most part. I wonder how Elden Ring handles it, especially the open world aspect. I'm willing to bet you are possibly dying to invader/mobs and then summoning players causing a reset of the timer though? Definitely make use of that ring if you want to have someone else deal with the invader while you progress and if the invader beats them solo while you and your other phantoms progress then they earned the right to fight you. :P

Their attitude is abhorrent.

If someone wants to play the game with friends they expose themselves to punishment? What kind of design choice is that? People just want to play the game, them going through things a little more easily than someone else doesn't do a damn thing to you personally so why do you give a damn?

Not only that, Co-op summons in the sweatiest, most toxic, hateful maggots in the realm of madness using cheats or the most broken meta builds. You dare to explore the world in the company of friends? We shall assault you with endless waves of bleed maniacs and weapon arts to one shot you. God forbid you get in melee range of one or you might be instantly killed by a status effect.

But you applaud this because obviously getting one shot by someone using a cheat or overpowered weapon is good gameplay in your eyes, and a worthy insult for someone who just wanted to play with friends.
