Any consensus regarding DEX and incantation cast speed?
So, we've seen the sorcery video testing regarding DEX's relationship with sorcery cast speeds. The Radagon icon does most of the boosting, with DEX helping a little all the way to 99. It seemed like 40 DEX would be an acceptable stopping point, but the opportunity cost in VIG or MND would be taxing on the build. The same could be said for FTH builds.

What I am asking about now is incantation cast speed. We know from the tooltip that incantations are less affected by DEX in their cast speeds, and we know from sorcery testing that spells with long windups are less affected by DEX cast speed increases. Although I don't have all the incants yet, windup time seems significant on some, and I believe this is especially true of those endgame incantations I hear about. Finally, I hear dragon incants do not benefit from cast speed bonuses, but I'm not a fan of those incants anyways.

With these factors in mind, is it even worth it to level DEX for a pure faith (i.e., no secondary damage stat) build?

I could see incantations with shorter cast times benefiting more due to the lack of cast speed bonuses applied to long-windup spells/incants. Things like lightning bolt, the flame of frenzy, bestial sling, and perhaps even the crucible incantations could all stand to benefit on paper.

Has anyone done any real testing, or does anyone have some base impressions post-respec? Again, it is taxing for a pure FTH user (or pure INT user) to have 30 to 40 in DEX assuming an SL 130 meta (which I know is a whole 'nother convo), given you'd have 60+ in your main casting stat.

Shameless self-bump and then I'll let it die

i was running dex faith for a bit and then did a respec into pure faith. i did not notice any difference in casting time what so ever, even though, admittedly, i never mained casting - just used it on the side to lure monsters or do elemental damage when needed like with flowers or some such.
i used stone of gurang, honed bolt, flame sling and a bunch of resistance buffs and none of those seemed really all that faster if at all. IF they were faster with dex in my build, then it wasn't enough to actually make a difference in terms of trading or not trading a hit for the cast.

I built int + dex and I did a respec to mostly int and I did notice a slightly slower cast, but I only noticed with glintstone pebble, it was just a smoother cast. But I couldn't perceive a faster cast for the slower spells. So I would say get your dex to maybe 20 or so (at like lvl 75ish) and you'll be fine. It won't double the speed or anything

Yes DEX affects incantation cast speeds. I use a dragon breath build and with Radagon Icon and Azur staff it makes them much more usable as they don't have much poise so you need them to activate as fast as possible. You could do without both if you have high DEX already (they add a total of 70 virtual DEX). Not sure why you're not a fan of them they are arguably the best incantations for pve
