Who is Godwyn the Golden? (Spoilers)

This is a question I had ever since I first saw the intro to the game.

During the Night of Black Knives, Godwyn the Golden was first to fall, but throughout many hours of the game I kept asking, who was Godwyn?

Now the first big bad boss with a rune I fought was Godrick the Grafted, and it became pretty clear he had a connection to Godwyn, however many sources state that while he is a demi god, he's a distant relative. I believe it's likely Godwyn was the firstborn of Marika and Godfrey, possibly being the heir to the throne, if such a thing were possible for the gods.

Much later, deep beneath the Erd Tree you will find his remains, however they've become rotten and...changed possibly. Fia claims that he is now the Prince of Death, since he was the first demi god to truly die. There do seem to be hints of an afterlife here and there throughout the game, but it would seem to be somewhat beyond the mortal realm. You can summon the spirits of the dead, and the Evergols seem to bring forth warriors who have long since perished.

So my conclusion is that Godwyn was the firstborn demi god, cherished by his Goddess Mother so much that once he was slain, she would go onto shatter the Elden Ring out of grief and anger towards the greater will. His fate as Prince of Death seems likely enough, after all he was the first to be slain by the Death Rune, and as seen with Ranna, it's possible he can exist outside his own body as well.

This is probably an incomplete story, so if you think you know anything that might be missing from my conclusion, or have a completely different one let me know.

I think it's more likely those arenas will be part of it. I've yet to see any sign that they do anything.

Edit: I'll be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pissed if they do nothing after the end of it all
