Elden Ring Was A Mistake.
Elden Ring is definitely not a masterpiece. When Demon Souls first came out, I was one of the few people who knew it. I played Dark Souls Prepare Die Edition outside of Steam. I played Dark Souls 2, 3 and Sekiro as a copy then bought it on pc. I have never had a chance to play Bloodborne, but I have information about what kind of game it is from broadcasts. The most important thing is that people don't know that this genre was actually created by copying, while they thought they started with Fromsoftware. I've also played the ancestors of the first Souls games. Souls games would never have existed without them. Souls' direct copy is Xanadu Next, made by Falcom in 2005. Many people don't even know about it. Anyway, I'm a veteran about Souls games. Why didn't I like Elden Ring? I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. Because Elden Ring has big problems. These are for slightly different reasons than people write.

I'm in the first 40 hours of the game, but I'm already bored. I don't even know if I can finish the game. I'll try, but I guess I won't have a little fun unless I buy the original game and play with my friends.
First of all, I wanted to write about some details that I couldn't decide.

1) Some people did not like the graphics of the game for some reason. Yes, it does not feel new generation, but I think there is no need to be a graphic fan. The graphics are pretty nice, but strangely enough, after playing the game for 3-4 hours, I feel sick to my stomach. This hasn't happened like this in previous Souls games. Am I the only one feeling this way?

2) I'm playing with 1080ti. I get 60fps with high graphics. There are definitely some optimization issues in the game. It can usually be triggered while fighting monsters. I haven't seen it as much as some people exaggerate, but it wouldn't be right to say it wasn't. Sometimes it can get into the gameplay. I hope it will improve over time.

3) The gameplay of the game is a little more fluid than Dark Souls 1, but that's it. Dark Souls 1's old rusty mechanics Bloodborne and Sekiro speed-attack boss battles make cancer. Not always, but in some boss battles you feel its effect.

Definitely poorly designed and game-destroying features.

1) The open world is ruining this game. The open world is incredibly empty and tasteless. The only thing we do is to cut creatures left and right with cumbersome game mechanics and it is not content. Half of the creatures I've already seen are imported from previous Souls games and made upscale. This is actually not a problem. I think it provides variety, but the problem is this is an open world game. This game makes it very obligatory for you to make a grid. No Souls game has ever had this many grids. It makes so many grids that you don't want to play the game after a while. There is no pleasure in looting on an empty map. A souls game designed with small but detailed corridors is a better option than a souls game where we have to wander aimlessly in the open world. I prefer to use the time we wander aimlessly to new builds to explore like in previous souls games. Of course, there are builds in this game, but it takes an unnecessary effort to reach them. This makes the game boring. I'd rather have an experience that I need to quickly discover and tackle, rather than dealing with something that takes unnecessary time.

2) The story is bad. Also very bad. The name of the mints, which were officially described in the previous games and not connected to any subject or purpose, has been changed. I haven't finished the game yet, but it's a fact that the story is a caterpillar. No Souls game has cared about its story anyway. It always felt that as Lore, there was a story written with simple pursuits in the background. In Souls 1 and Bloodborne, it was tried to be given in a little more detail and with sensible writing, but Souls 2 and 3 were very bad. Demon Souls was not enough. Sekiro, on the other hand, was the only game where we truly understood what we were doing and who we were. This is the biggest problem of Souls games. Why do we do it? What should we do? What does this have to do with us? Why us? That does not make sense. Let's choose a simple concept of "chosen one" and let the player release him into the world of the game as if he/she is very important in this story. The ancestor of Souls games, Xanadu Next, should be taken as an example in this regard. There are still many features that it doesn't do better than that game. Even years later, it could not pass ancestor in this regard. It's still making the same mistakes. Why should I fight this boss? What's the deal with this boss? Why do these creatures exist? Where did they originate from? There is no proper explanation. It's just a bogus writting for certain things.

3) The feeling of improvement is still not good. Except for Sekiro, all Souls games have faltered on this one. Elden Ring doesn't falter as much as previous Souls games, but it still doesn't feel adequate. In some ways, it feels like we are the same at the end as we were at the beginning. Also, when the game time plus unnecessary grid fantasy is added to this, I feel bored and close the game. Really Dark Souls 4 is this game but a bad sequel.

4) Some technical problems still continue. Camera angles suck. Bosses, mini-bosses and monsters are not our worst enemies. Our biggest enemy is the inadequate targeting system and most importantly, the badly made hitbox designs. Boss shoots ahead, I'm at a distance beside him. The game is counting damage. I won't say anything even if it's a few times, but it's something that happens all the time. Some creatures' damage designs deal exaggerated damage, and no, not because of their features, but purely because of poorly designed hitboxes. I've seen our blows go by for your creatures. Or that the arrow they shot hit us and didn't touch them? There are many hitbox issues, such as large siege weapons or attacks by monsters that throw something big. It throws, strangely enough, I'm not even touching it, I'm a little far away, but I fall right where it fell, as if it had landed in front of me. So it creates a vacuum effect and pulls me in and no it's not a feature. Faulty and inadequate design.

5) The hit feeling is not good. Insufficient. Let's take Monster Hunter as an example. It gives you the feeling that a monster and a boss have taken real damage in Monster Hunter. If you cut off a limb of it, it cannot use that limb and if the limb has a feature, it will be deprived of it. Your strong blows will stun him or even drop him to the ground and cause him to kick. They even feel that they are injured. They become more aggressive but also more fragile or on the contrary, they become less aggressive but more resistant. Each boss has weak and strong parts. Also, in order to reduce the effect of these bosses against you, the game constantly offers you a different build. You set your build before the boss so that you can come over that boss. These developments still do not exist in Elden Ring. I still feel like my in-game blows are hitting the flat wall.

6) Voice over and music is very bad. At the same time, all the characters feel very soulless and boring. The presentation quality is also disgraceful. At least the first Souls game had some more fun characters. None of them were well, but at least they made their presence felt a little bit. In Elden Ring, it would be if they weren't. Even Fromsoft tried to design npc in vain. It's all unnecessary anyway. They just lie there. Their existence is one. The open world feels dead. There is no living world. Ok style of game like this but at least I wish I had comrades that I could care about and npc to catch my attention. There is no one in this game. George Martin is just PR as I thought. There is an empty world that is dark just to be Dark but it feels so shallow and funny that I can't even take it seriously when playing. I really wanted to feel the weight of that dark world. I would like to see the helpless state of those npc and their resistance for the last ray of hope in their eyes. Of course, a Souls game, one should not expect more. We have to cut the boss, one after the other, with aimlessly gothic architecture, disgusting voiceovers and terrible music. Fromsoft has not been able to overcome these issues since the first game. Presentation quality is just as bad. At least the first game even had a cinematic. Here, it is glossed over with lousy concept art, like a low-budget game. Even AA games can do better now. I don't understand how they could have done worse even though they had more budget and more time.

7) The game difficulty is uneven. The game alternates between sometimes very easy and sometimes extremely difficult. Especially in monster and boss designs, this is immediately obvious, but there is another problem. Okay, Souls games have never been completely balanced, but Elden Ring is a real disaster in this regard. In particular, some builds are overpowered while others are weak. There is no balance. While Parry is sometimes very effective, sometimes it doesn't work at all. Many more such examples could be given. However, if they balanced abilities and each build had advantages and disadvantages then it would be great. It would not be a lie to say that there is a gap between the builds. In fact, the Souls series cannot even enter the most difficult games I have played in my life. I've played much harder games than Souls. For Souls games, the definition of "challenging" rather than difficulty would be more accurate, but balance is important here. Fromsoftware failed to do that.

8) Artificial intelligence sometimes works well, sometimes stupid. Even in this regard, the game is unbalanced. I don't understand how a game can be so unstable.

9) The interface design is inadequate and not useful. It feels old and the biggest problem is that it feels useless. It looks like they released it without working hard on it.

10) Mount mechanics are very boring and inadequate. We can't even crush them with a mount. All wars are just two lousy moves. Worst of all, I think it creates dead weight because some of the game's battles are based on mount mechanics. This makes some battles very boring. The mount gets stuck on some things and doesn't even react.

11) There is nothing new in the game. They transferred the mechanics of the previous game into a single game with the copy-paste method.

Now you can write; So is there any good side to this game? There is actually. I write what comes to my mind.

1) There is a new and useful mechanic "spirit summoning" that I know exists in the game although I don't use it. We can make a variety of calls. Good mechanic. This is first and only new mechanic in the game if we forget the mount mechanic.

We come to the conclusion part. Thank you to everyone who has read this far. Of course, just because I don't like Elden Ring doesn't mean it's a bad game, but it's not as good a game as it is praised. I think it would be useful to see it as an average game. After all, there are those who do not like the game, and there are those who like the game. Maybe it's a good game for you, but I wrote this review for those who think like me and want to look at it from a different perspective.

My score is for the game 6/10.

Edit:

I still see a lot of people crying and whining in the comment section.

Most of what I write here is not for those who argue properly here, but for those who insult or just troll in every discussion.

I've been looking at the ones that have written apart from a few people here and how helpless they are. People who are speechless and helpless. In real life, people who cannot say a word to someone out of fear in this way are here keyboard warriors. Poor bunch of people just trying to be right by insulting. Learn to be respectful first.

Your behavior justifies what I wrote. You said "Yes, you are right". In other words, it is clear that at least half of what I have written is objective rather than subjective.

It turned out that most of the people who answered the questions agreed with what I said even if they did not want to participate. So this is proof that at least half of what I write is objective. So don't humiliate yourself by saying it's subjective. Scientific research begins with a subjective question, and the result is objectively tied. If it were not for this method, none of the famous scientists who would change the world today would exist in history. That's why, even in science, you can't come here and dismiss my views as "subjective" according to your mind.

You call me a clown, so what did you do other than buffoonery? The answer is nothing. In fact, you've already confirmed that my views are valuable, by saying that my views are worthless and by posting here. You took place in this title as the greatest jesters of history. You must be proud of yourself.

Here is another objective result. I've looked at other forums. The Souls audience is a toxic audience both inside and outside the game. They tend to both ruin the game of players and try to humiliate them with their nonsensical information.
For instance:
-New Souls Like Gamer
I'm new to Souls Games but I don't understand why this game series is so overrated. Here is my view. What do you want to share your thoughts?
-Toxic Elitist Souls Players.
Haha, just die trash. We are elitist players. This game is not for everyone. If you can't play, delete the game. Puhahaha, don't cry. Souls games are brutal. That's why all your opinions are worthless. git gud. Try hard. All your opinions are subjective.

-Experienced Souls Like Player
I didn't like the game. I made a list for the reasons. I touched on why I thought it wasn't good. Not every game is for every player anyway. This is not a defensive method.
-Toxic Elitist Souls Players.
You are a clown. This game is masterpiece. You think you are superior. Even if it's not a masterpiece, it's amazing like every Souls game. Leave, ban, report, die, burn, you're wrong, blah blah, hahahahaha.
Here is the ultimate proof that you look like a jester. Unfortunately, after what you did, there was another title that I thought to add to the game. This one: ''Toxic Elitist Players Getting Cancer''
I broke the game's score by 1 more point with this title. I didn't want to do it, but you did it, not me.

Now, my score is: 5/10

I honestly did not understand what the people who told me about the history of Souls Like wanted to do. First, they confirmed me. Secondly, they did not want to accept it and had to accept it again. Third, I know the Xanadu series, you don't need to explain, I'm a Nihon Falcom fan anyway, but I criticize it when appropriate. I know the King's Field series. It is a series that laid the foundations of Demon Souls and I played this series. However, Xanadu Next is the game that really beats the basic Souls mechanics of today. That's what I wanted to mean. The DS1 is the game that makes you feel it the most. My aim was for people who are elitist and think Souls games are unique and declare themselves gods. I think you misunderstood me. If you really understood then you have agreed with what I said. So my honor was not offended, as some people have written. On the contrary, you have praised me yourself. I didn't do anything about it. For some reason you did this. Your logic is: ah yes, Call of Duty and Medal of Honor are nothing alike. They are different from each other in every aspect. :) I think you need to play these games before you play defense and you need to think again. I've played them all.

Now you can continue to defend this game that you have been defending aimlessly. You have always been denied by me. Because you are trying to forcefully accept facts that do not appeal to your imagination as true. According to you, if everything or most things are perfect, then it is perfect, right? I wonder who has become subjective now. :)

I will buy the original game and give it a negative. Just because of its toxic people. Normally I would vote positive. It will be this way because of those who write here. At the same time, I don't have to show you my profile account. I only open my information to my friends. However, I will send you a photo of it. I'm sure there will even be those who will say that the photos have been edited by photoshop. If I take a video and post it, you will say it again because your goal is just to be a troll. On top of that, I'll show it in proof that I bought the games. What you said about it is no longer valid. I will buy Elden Ring sooner. I will not wait for my friends. The next time I play, it will be on the original version. Now that you're shut up. Writing the same things doesn't do anything.

Edit Note: Elden Ring in my Steam library. So, every criticism i make is valid now. So you can't say anything about it anymore. The last half of the text is also objectively passing. Now, as i promised, will vote negative Review for the game.

Prepare Die Edition Box version and i own Dark Souls II Collector's Edition. I also have the Demon Souls box version. I even gifted Souls games to my friends to play together. I can share them if you want. You look and you are ashamed of what you say. Now I remember, you didn't have any shame, did you...

I pity those who tag me as a clown. All of the people who gave me clowns are actually themselves clowns. You wouldn't have given that label if you hadn't identified with it. It's sad for you. I hope this topic lives on forever and clowns always appear. You look at them and you remember yourself. ^^

Why was Elden Ring a mistake? Because FromSoftware still repeats the same mistakes and offers the same game. They were the ones who said there would be a new ip. I want to remind. So this game was a mistake. There are many games with positive reviews. For example, one of them is the CS4 game of the TLoH series, one of my favorite game series. I'm not the only one who wrote this. Likewise OT is one of them. If you look at these comments, you will see a lot of positive comments. However, this does not change the facts. A true fan is one who emphasizes harsh truths, not one who is mindlessly advocating. There's a difference between being toxic and being a fan.
So, all those who say this title is a mistake are wrong. Now this has become an objective view. They should thank themselves. ^^

Like I said, I'm a busy person. I really wish I had as much time as you. It takes a lot of time for me to keep up with each question separately. That's why I wrote the answers this way. There will be many people crying and suffering in the face of these messages. Because your only concern is to evaluate yourself in the elite gamer category just because you killed a boss in Souls games. This game does not give you pleasure. It just satisfies your inferiority complex. I play games for enjoyment. I became a pro player of many different games like pvp and pve. I have neither humiliated nor felt strange to anyone in any of them. I always helped and respected their opinions. There is no way for you people whose life purpose consists of this game to understand this. Disrespecting opinions rather than respecting them is a sign that many people on this forum will not be taken seriously. Opening this thread so that people can see how disgraceful you are showed that it was not a mistake. So you can be as silly as you want. You are doing what suits you. Even among yourselves, you constantly insult each other for stupid reasons. Get a real life and improve yourself. Your life has been Souls games. Sad. What a pity.

One more thing, i state it again. I am not Asian or Japanese. I am writing for those who ask the same question.

I wrote why. I don't think you saw it because you didn't read it. I recommend reading before writing anything. Let me also point out. The reason I am writing is because I am both older and experienced than many Souls fans. So I specified that things like git gud should not be written to me. This isn't the first time I've met this breed. I know a lot more than most people. I wanted to point this out.

"was a mistake" gives an above average score??

tldr though: your subjective opinions are not universal, most of your issues are non issues or posititve things if you ask me. people don't want "new" they wanted more of the same, sekerio was their spinoff and it did well, but from's core gameplay for rpgs isn't that, and it shows in sales.

also peak comedy: a pirate trying to call people trolls for calling out the piracy.

I'm waiting for more realistic answers. Instead of troll answers. You can write your thoughts. In the end, it may be a masterpiece for some, but towards the end I stated why I wrote it in the text.
BK-BERKE Mar 20, 2022 @ 2:42pm
Let me specify. The reason I didn't buy Elden Ring was whether I would like the game or not. I buy the games I like. I have around 600 games on Steam alone. I've bought thousands of games so far. Don't be a troll about it.

So repeating the same things is enough for a play to be a masterpiece? Then if all the good old games don't improve themselves and bring their new games by making them open world, they're all masterpieces according to your logic.

I won't agree that the game is a mistake because I'm really enjoying it. But I do agree that the open world detracts from this game more than it adds. All the running feels like filler between the interesting stuff on the map. I also agree that it does feel like a lot of "copy-paste" from previous Souls games. Without the open world, this would feel almost exactly like Dark Souls 3 with jumping.

you did not buy the game you are not a consumer so your opinion literally doesn't matter to a single person on earth

I don't think Elden Ring is any kind of Masterpiece, I think Bloodborne is still the peak, with Sekiro second, and Elden Ring third. Elden Ring feels like a culmination of lessons learned from the Souls Series, being pushed in a new way. From is new with open worlds, and I think for a first try the attempt is incredible. I've beaten it and would give it an 8-8.5 rating. They tried not to fall into all the overused open world tropes, in some ways succeeded, in some ways failed. They implemented great mechanics like ashes of war, and refined their system more than DS3 was. Can't comment on Story until Vaati tells me why I'm shanking the people I am shanking, as is the case with all previous games, but overall, the game is fun. Its a matter of preference, everyone gets burned out of something eventually, if they do it a lot.
