Trying to focus on levelling so i rather not double the runes i need but at the same time trying to take it easy

Farming runes to buy smithing stones isn't much different from farming smithing stones

Only place I've seen them drop off mobs was the soldiers in Liurnia, seems to be shared drop with the tier 1 version though. Your best bet is just to hit up the mine on the east side of the lake. You'll get a fair number there plus the bell bearing to buy them, and the low tier stones are super cheap... like, you can buy 50-100 of them for the cost of one level by ~lvl 50

They cost like 400 i think, you can easily get that amount, even on early game

hummmm...i really wanted just to build up slowly like collecting them on mines but if there is no way thanks for the replies

Yeah... for whatever reason you get tons of Somber stones as you go, but only enough basic ones to upgrade ~2 1/2-3 weapons before you have to start buying or hardcore farming them. It's an odd design decision, but since there's a way to work with it easily enough it's not a big deal.
