Shadman shows how the animations could be made more authentic.
I just found this video where Shadman shows how the sword animations in Elden Ring could be made more authentic to real historical martial arts without sacrificing telegraphing and maintaining the same hitboxes:

I have to say, I do like his version of those moves better than the ones in the game. It's a shame animations can't be modded.

My mind thought of a different "Shadman" and I was like "Oh god no."

Right?

It's a video game. It doesn't need to be realistic. Animations are supposed to look cool, have weight and impact.

His versions of those moves look cooler than the ones in the game because they're more believable and have better form.

this dude really made 19 minutes of content about something nobody who plays the games cares about

In video, when there's pvp in it, showing telegraph is important.

His moves have the same amount of telegraphing and he explicitly addresses that.

It's a world where dragons and space beasts and magic exist.
I think my immersion can survive a few overly flashy attack animations.

It's not very cool when these characters are taking stances like they're decrepit 90 year olds throwing out their back and dislocating their shoulders. Changing the stances alone would be a massive improvement

I do agree about the zweihander animations in game making it seem way heavier than it actually is IRL, but honestly that's just a balance decision. It's a 8-9 pound sword but the way it swings in-game makes it seem like it's a 30 pound sword being swung by my grandma.

Isn't this the same Shadman?

Friend Shadman shows how Elden Ring can be improved by putting penises on the maidens

It’s because the Zwei in Froms universe isn’t the same Zwei from history. irl Zweihanders are far closer to design and weapon class of the Flamberge
