You're going to be switching gear out whichever class you choose. The other classes give you better stat optimisation if you have a build in mind before you start. Wretch is actually useless unless you're doing an SL1 run.
...but then literally every other class would be useless. Might as well just force everyone to start at level 1 with base stats and remove classes at that point.
When I played DS1, DS2 and DS3 it was hard to find people online, and helping other players to defeat bosses in coop is one of my favorite things
