For those wanting to do this, as it is more than likely the solution.
Close the game and exit steam if steam is running
click on the windows Start Button
type run
select the listed program for run
a command prompt window will open, note if you need you can "run as administrator" if needed as an option on the right when you have run available
in the command prompt window type the following
ipconfig /flushdns
hit enter
you will be presented a result, if something says you need permissions then do the run as administrator option
now you will type the next following line in the command prompt, note this is not necessary but makes DNS update now instead of 15 minutes from now
ipconfig /registerdns
hit enter
Now you can close the windows you opened and start Elden Ring again.
So what is DSN, its a way for your computer to find places on the internet, everything on the internet has an Internet Protocol address aka IP Address. This is a number that makes now sense so we silly humans remember words better than names and that is where DNS comes into play. DNS (Domain Naming System) places a name on that number for us to remember. Its like the address you live at, the address is unique and the postal delivery service knows if something has your name then it belongs to your address, same for the internet. Hope that helps and DNS is most likely the cause for this issue not anti-virus.
