And, while this mostly only matters against trash fodder enemies. Greatshields have more light attack types "bounce" off you, instead of letting the enemy keep swinging their spam combo against your shield until they are done.
But again, that is not really gonna be a thing for bosses. Mostly "Haha idiot soldier with a longsword bounced"
The now reduced damage is then applied to your character like that of a normal attack. it is first reduced by flat defence through a formula that is probably needlessly complex again, and is then reduced by your own absorption percentage.
Basically, if you have 75% block on the shield and 25% absorption on your armor, they don't stack and absorb 100% of the damage. Instead, you reduce the damage by 75% with the shield, and then reduce what's left by 25% via the armor.
