Sneaky bastards: Great Turtle Shield 100% to 87%
The only part for shields is that they buffed them "Increased shield’s effectiveness" and some ambiguous text, which probably put shields under weapon balance changes because you can use a shield as a weapon "Other enemy and weapon balance changes", which was basically a secret nerf.

Point is that they didn't mention it in the 1.03 patch notes. If they had mentioned it, then fair game, but a secret nerf isn't good, your using your item, and then you have to be surprised and be like "wtf".

Yeah.

Brace yourself for people who only use it as a buff backpack for their two handing build crutch, to rush in screaming "No see it isn't a big deal and I for one feel the physical resist should be nerfed more still too good for babies who need shields to play"

My friend uses it as a backpack buff, his response was "they nerfed my turtle shield u wut m8", even though I mentioned to them that it wouldn't matter for them, but oh well.
I switched it out and started buffing my endurance.
But yeah now it's only useful for horse back riding or when power stancing.

You seem to be have some logic issues up there. It was literally 100% from when it was designed till the day of patch 1.03, which part of that says is it was never supposed to be, they clearly thought at first it was supposed to be 100%, otherwise it wouldn't have been 100% in the first place.

It was only changed when people liked to use it a lot, especially sorcs with thrusting weapons. (I like using Halberd or Claw, Halberd sometimes switched for one or the other colossal weapon, and I threw that shield away, now only backpack shield users can enjoy it, I can enjoy it when I power stance claws, which is pretty rare)

You can overcome this by finding the Barricade art of war and using it on a Heater Shield (or the one that's available from the Round Table merchant). I THINK that one provides 100 physical damage reduction. If it doesn't, use it on ANY shield that does and presto, you have a pseudo-turtle shield.

Turtle Shields point is that it gives you stamina regen buff, the 100% meant that you could also use it to nullify physical damage.
There are around ten 100% shields that I have, why would I need Barricade. Also turtle shield was great with spell parry.
Now I just use the resistance buff greatshield for now.

its based off the grass crest shield which never had 100% physical. it gets stamina regen as an extra perk. it was never supposed to be 100%
Barricade lets you nullify a lot of the damage soaked by your Stamina. IF your weapon's main skill isn't your mainstay, then barricade is absolutely awesome in dealing with high-damage foes.

That's just your opinion not a fact. Fact is that Great Turtle Shield was 100% for a time. You can't deny that, no matter how much you spin around your pointless tale.

i never denied it was 100% before they corrected it, not sure wat ur talkin about but ok.

Whatever you don't get it. Barricade was not the point of Turtle Shield, it was having "stamina regen buff, 100% physical damage reduction and your own skill on it, which for me was Thop's Parry", without 100%, I just switch to another shield with 100%, there is no need for me to get Barricade, unless it can't have parry, then might as well get it or just put no skill.

I'll prolly use turtle shield as a secondary packpack item for my claws or when mounted, when I get enough endurance.

It was too good so they nerfed it, nothing new.
Ugly thing is that they haven't stated it in the patch notes.

Turtle shield was way too good at 100%. it was at a point where there was no reason to use anything else.

exactly y they corrected it, like it always shoulda been.
BoneWalker Mar 20, 2022 @ 1:09am
Because having Barricade Shield as the default ash on a shield with 100% physical resist is overkill. Isn't gonna change my hitting things over the head with a turtle shell.
