Classes influence the first area only, if you upgrade at normal pace.
Longsword to me is the best weapon in the game (was also the case for DS3) until level 30 at least.
Bow for range is also nice.
Basically if your build uses the stat you want it as high as possible at start, and if your build neglects the stat, you want it as low as possible.
I even forgot to add in Strength and Endurance for another +3 Levels Netted. - 1 Level from Mind, so you could get +9 levels from Vagabond vs Samurai if you're going Faith Strength Paladin.
Wretch is only good for Soul Level 1 Playthroughs. It is the worst to start with since it's not specialized into any style of play.
