ELDEN RING
Stormveil Castle the Highlight of Elden Ring?
Honestly almost done the game and I feel like after Stormveil it only goes down in quality. Anyone else feel this way?

I will definitely say the late game feels more sparse than the beginning. Someone argued that the content is "front loaded". I love this game but it is what it is. And the first half was much better for me.

most souls games are front loaded with the good stuff. i think 3 was probably the best in terms of spacing out its good content despite it overall being lower quality in my opinion..? like DS1 had from firelink to the burg and sens fortress and the forest and new londo and blighttown and catacombs and all that which at the time was amazing. then you have the second half which is anor londo and tomb of the giants and second part of new londo and dukes archives and crystal caves and.. just.. a big drop in quality.
Bruh. Anor londo is the best part of DS1. And ds3 is the opposite of front loaded. It starts off slow and kinda meh then picks up after abyss watchers and irithyll. Then the late game is amazing.

Nah after leyendell it goes down in quality. Leyendell is easily the best legacy dungeon.
I just didn't find the bosses too memorable. Light dude with god in his name. Same character model as the stormveil boss and the others look too similar. Were kinda bad bosses, a bit boring re used. It just feels like they blew their best ideas at stormveil and kinda had to make due what is left in the budget.

Wait you thought Godfrey/Horah Loux was bad? or the bosses after Leyndell (mandatory are: Fire Giant, Malekith, Radagon & Elden Beast since you can skip Sir Gideon)

Stormveil Castle was probably my favourite location. And overall any legacy dungeon felt more natural to the game compared to great vasts of empty land between locations.

Sure they looked nice on first couple goes, but when they are nothing but empty areas just to have something between locations, they aren't that memorable.

"Ah hello random Ruins #37 with one basement with either boss or chest hidden behind fake floor."
Yeah they completely misunderstood what made other games like breath of the wild work really well with an open world and puzzle dungeons. The kicker in BOTW was that you could be REALLY creative to solve most of them. I don't think I have solved it the same way as other people that have gotten pretty creative on getting up the waterfalls or catapulting themselves to the monk. ER has copy paste dungeons with 1 solution and a few optional items you can miss if you don't hit every wall.

Anor Londo is empty and blocky. We can argue about how fun it is, but fromsoft themselves admitted that they had to rush to finish the half of it and it clearly shows.
storm veil was high wall of lothric 2.0. not bad but not very memorable. Raya academy, farum azula, and the first section of the haligtree area were the best legacy dungeons imo

idk i feel like the diff for me is that the Shrines in BOTW were so numerous that piecemeal rewards (iirc you had to do 4 to get one heart upgrade, or a stamina ugprade?) made it feel like far more of a grind than something that gives a new gameplay oppurtunity. like BOTW felt great but also did not click with the whole durability thing too, or the sparse camps etc.

the system + physics interaction was great but the actual UX of it just wasn't for me

-shrug- fair enough/to each their own. Even if he does some aoes they felt no less manageable than most pass Souls bosses (but overall I do think ER has like a bad ratio of good/bad bosses).

I'm glad that you could enjoy those areas, i personally collected everything in them, since I'm a completionist, but first time going through it was just annoying and i got through as fast as possible. Re used beast men , enemies that try to push you off and the flowers. Also the boss fight, I don't know, she was just the same fight like in the manor, except she's not a ghost anymore.

Well at least he's ONE of TWO bosses that actually require you to use a new mechanic. AKA jumping. The other one is the elden beast's jump rope attack.

the only aoe spammers in past souls games that i can think of are stray demon and firesage. And they are considered awful bosses. How can anybody be fine with godfrey and radagon basically being constant Aoe spam?

I personally find it lazy, especially when the camera is a bigger issue. Monster hunter doesn't have that problem because the game gives you dynamic FOV. When a monster roars it zooms out so you can actually see something. Doesn't make the game "easier" it is still hard, but at least the giant monster fights feel fun and challangeing. Like Fatalis, still beats any crappy wyvern fights in souls games.

i don't mean that past games had AoE spam (also lol thinking of Stray Demon & Firesage makes me angry, they were annoying lol) but idk what to tell you other than in my experience Godfrey didn't aoe spam to the point of "Oh ♥♥♥♥ i can't dodge this" and Radagon is VERY manageable when you learn how to dodge or deal with his stuff. I'm not saying anything its easy but the game does give the tools or movement options in those fights.

We're gonna disagree anyway i think lol :)_

just roll 4head

in all seriousness, there are far worse examples of aoe spam imo, for example draconic tree sentinel. at least the aoes from godfrey and radagon are designated for specific attacks, nearly everything draconic sentinel does is a giant, ♥♥♥♥ off aoe, especially when he imbues his mace with lightning
