How to alter some armors?

There are a few armors that I've seen in an altered form and have no idea how to do it myself, they're not in the menu.

you need the Tailoring Tools. Obtained by defeating the Demi-Human Chief boss. This boss can be found in the Coastal Cave in western Limgrave

The armor isn't showing up even after I did that.

There is also a second set of golden tailoring tools for demi-god apparel. But the important thing to know is that, currently at least, altering any armor just removes capes or parts of the head piece. Not super exciting, but still fun to play around with a bit.

I don't remember the location of the golden sewing kit. And not every piece of armor can be altered.

I currently have the Gold Sewing Needle, the Golden Tailoring Tools and the standard Tailoring Tools.

Oh, the option is found when you rest at a site of grace, or you can use Boc, if you've done his short quest line. After finishing his quest line he moves to the Lake Facing Cliffs site of grace during the day time.

Note that not all armors can be altered with the Tailoring Tools. also altered armor are more weaker then normal

Might be an enemy drop only.

Some armors have altered variants that you get from killing certain enemies wearing them, otherwise, you can't alter them yourself.

I have discovered my problem.
The armor I'm trying to alter looks almost exactly like the armor I actually want to alter.

Yeah, cape/cloak removal isn't that great, but since there are multiple slots when altering I'd like to think there will be more to do in a future update/dlc.

Context: I want to alter the Nox Swordstress Armor but happen to have the Night Maiden Armor.
