Decent sidearms for a sorcerer?

I decided to try being a mage for a new 2nd playthrough, and boy 8 strength really puts a cap on my options for sidearms.

Other than the starting shortsword, are there any other recommendations within my budget of 8 strength + 12 dex + 7 faith?

I am pure sorcerer with 80 int and 60 mind . I only use spells to kill everything , So my personal choice for side arm is dagger or light weight sword with Bloodhound step . Never swing this weapon . Just for bloodhound step . “Super disgusting” that’s my melee main friend jealously comment my build :P .

Yeah … kill final boss with Moknlight Greatsword and choose her ending . Live together in the new age . I seriously want to try this stuff but currently now possible in this playthough because I am pure caster . So do it for me :3

Already done! I just 100%'d the game less than an hour ago.

thing is mage attacks dont stagger for crits a whole lot or atleast they havnt for me.

Oh yeah you got to use rocksling spell for fast poisebreak. like 3-4 casts of it should do it. Oh and weirdly the phalanx swords ash of war causes lots poise damage but like the spell version doesnt seem to at least when I was trying it.

The wings of astel curved sword is an amazing weapon for a mage.

The strong attack fires short range spells and can hit with the weapon itself for massive damage. The weapon art is a mist explosion which each part deals damage and poise damage. This can overwelm large enemies and does very high damage.

The sword scales at a B scaling with Int +8 or higher is lightweight at only 2.5 and is all you will ever need.

Also only requires 7 Strength to use so you can respec your stats and pump that INT even higher.

I'm a huge fan of having a spear with Spectral Lance on it and treating it as a "stagger stick" since it does insanely high stance damage and only costs 9 FP; Clayman's Harpoon is a relatively easy to get spear that's magic and only weights 5.5.

Also you can pocket a dagger (any really, crystal dagger is magic though and falls into you reqs) and put Golden Vow AoW on it to up your damage output (works on spell/incants) + defense. I however don't know if it stacks with Terra Magicus to really crank damage up.

I have been LOVING prisoner with a mix of magic and any quick sword. Dex/Int I am loving for my build.
