Boc the seamster (spoilers for Boc questline)
Are you really telling me that after all i have done to make this little monkey man happy, that my efforts are in vain and actually being punished?

god forbid i want to do something nice for a frekkin NPC for once, and then the game punishes me by cruely and coldly just killing off said NPC because of what is essentially a trick question that i got wrong.

i went out of my way to get the golden needle for this guy and you just kill him off?
not only did you trick me into wasting a larval tear, but you've robbed me of my seamster on top of that.

i looked online, and apparently there is a way to avoid having him die (requires a prattling pate "you're beautiful" item) but here's the kicker; even if you do this Boc STILL bails and disappears from the game???? what??

Yo how about an explanation of some sort?
i feed Boc a larval tear, he says he'll be right back, and when i port into Lucaria library his corpse is just casually strewn across the floor, and that's how it ends?? are you kidding me?

I did all the “right” choices, told him he’s beautiful and all.. and yet as I advanced in the game it appears he still died :(

Only difference is that I cant find the body… perhaps there is hope, but I doubt it.
Poor Boc

9 times out of 10, characters in Souls don't get happy endings regardless of what you do. Irina of Carim (DS3) and Rya (ER) are very few exceptions and still have specific requirements to achieve them.
Lore wise Rennala can't rebirth anybody without imperfections except you as you have the great rune(or something like that!) which is the reason Boc dies.
Yeah it kinda sucks & it's not really that obvious but the game does tell you about what happens to somebody when they are reborn.

There's plenty of npcs who can get relatively happy ending or at least survive in dark souls but in elden ring it has been "quest complete, time to die" for every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ npc i've seen maybe except for rya, nepheli and kenneth. Not sure about patches, haven't finished his quest post manor yet but it is really annoying how every time you finish a questline npc just decides to go off themselves.

How is Rya's ending a happy one? Either one really.

Roderika gets kind of a happy ending (found a talent and a mentor after thinking she´s not good at anything), Nepheli as well with the right choices (becomes lady of limgrave)
