Jokes aside, you can later on buy them once you find the correct bell bearing; sadly we can't do the same for feathers so we're stuck with shooting bones that don't travel that far.
Go to Warmaster Shack at night and rest at grace, walk into shack and the bell hunter will invade. Defeating him will drop the bone peddler bell.
A great farming spot is the site of grace right before impassable bridge in Caelid (place before Radahn fight). There are three birds 5 feet from grace that you can farm endlessly. Popping silver foot/silver mask increases drop rate. I did this for about 30 minutes one night and got hundreds of fowl feet and a few hundred feathers. Covered my arrow needs up to this point, so unless you are a dedicated archer a half hour of farming should keep you stocked up.
100 runes for the thin bones, think 200 for the hefty bois
It would be interesting to have different types of trees with different quality of wood so its up to the player to realize which trees make garbage arrows and which ones make some pretty good ones. Of course then people are gonna cry to Fromsoft to add more map markers for the trees and the map is already an absolute cluttered mess. Less is more in regards to maps/ui
