Maliketh is much harder boss for anyone who uses magic, does not use a shield, or uses slow weapons. He killed me more then every boss combined in game so far- 55 deaths. I had to get help for him.

no shield, no magic, 2H Colossal sword, 1 shot with ease... got to use the environment to your advantage. Those giant pillars arent there for no reason

harder than malenia? no. but he by far the hardest non optional storyboss fight in the game. he is a huge spike in difficulty compared to the fire giant and the bosses before and he is also harder than the final set of 3 bosses aswell. he really feels off difficulty wise compared to all other non optional bosses.

shield is FULLY useless on maliketh believe it or not. as his lfiedrain and max drain work trough ANY guard and 1-2 of his moves have such a large hitbox that the hit will register as a hit from behind even on greatshields. he drains your hp into 1 shot level and then does these moves. youre death. shields are more useless againist him than malenia due to that.

Malenia is imo, the hardest boss in Elden Ring.

Also super easy, I recommend people fight mounted enemies on foot. His attack windows are numerous as he usually doesn't combo and his animations are slow. Its also imo easier to manage his enrage lightning on foot as horse has no i-frames unless mounting or dismounting

Definitely not "anyone". I use big weapons and no shield and Maliketh was a whole lot easier to me than Malenia. Especially in his 2nd phase, Maliketh leaves plenty of openings.

Maliketh is hard but fair (except the sword going through walls). Malaria is ... another story.

The biggest annoyance about Maliketh is it's a 2 phase fight where the first phase can dwindle your healing without you really being able to do much about it unless you play ultra conservative, which just prolongs the whole thing, combined with one of the few boss-runs in the game that takes like 30 seconds.

But technically, he's worlds away from Melania difficulty.

what build you using? i want to try it, in NG+

used the generic "greatsword" up to and to kill Fire Giant. Got annoyed by Haligtree so tried the Ruin Greatsword for the weapon art and that makes killing packs of mobs nice. Pure STR, END, VIG wearing the Veterans Armor, Erdtree Favor +2, Claw Talisman, Soreseal, and then turtle talisman to help with stamina. The game was honestly a joke with a Greatsword STR build. Physics flask was STR + Dmg mit. NG+ I have swapped to STR + increased stagger for that flask. Carried 14 HP flasks on bosses and 13/1 when exploring to restore FP for taking out random mob packs
