The way these games usually work is that the buff is based on your magic adjustment stat, which is in turn a mix of your catalyst's scaling and your relevant stat.
Or to put it more simply, a bigger number on the catalyst usually means the buff is bigger too.
Usually in From games the weapon buffs were a multiplier to your weapon, but now the weapon is irrelevant. It's all determined by the Seal. Hence if you buff a dagger with Lightning, or a Great Hammer, they'll both get the same damage bonus.
I just did a test actually. Clawmark seal (0) vs Clawmark seal (+10)
Difference was was + 1 dmg with the Bloodflame blade and Flame, grant me strenght buff.
586 dmg vs 587. thats a +1 which seems rather pointless to be honest.
But i am assuming i am only getting that little improvement because i only have the absolute minimum "Faith" to be able to use these incantations ? With a higher Faith that should have been more noticeable right ?
