Elden Beast is something else: Spoilers
I am currently fighting the Elden Beast, and it is definitely something else. There are several things in the game that have a familiar resemblance to certain things. This boss is exceedingly so. Anyways, this is an interesting fight.

The first phase boss is a little frustrating. I can stand there, and he just stands there looking at me. When I use a skill, he does so with a perfect counter. I feel like I am fishing for the acceptable attacks, that do not punish me for using them. Jump attacks have him do a sudden full 360 swing. Run in heavy attack, smash the ground. Run in fast attack sometimes hits, sometimes he hits me at the same time with a jab. Stationary attacks is just suicide. These are reliably expected behaviors as well. I guess that means run in fast attacks only, and I just use a ton of heals on this phase. It does not help that this boss basically teleports the entire distance of the fighting area.

In the second phase, I cannot see much of what is happening as melee. I often do not know what is killing me until it is too late. I would greatly benefit from a zoomed out view, where I can see everything that is happening, instead of small portions of the boss actions. When it dips its, um, head? down, I think it is lighting the water on fire. But then again, that might have been it hitting me, and something else did the fire.

Very confusing fight. What were some of your methods on winning this one? Is this basically impossible as a faith melee?

I think the second phase would greatly benefit from not being there at all and having something else in its place. You know, for the Greater Will.

Run to one side of the arena, get a few hits in, dodge gargantuan aoe spell, repeat.

When it's time to melee, I tend to try to get to its side or rear. If the slug would try to spew holy flame. And for some reason, even if it showed up behind the slug, didn't seem to hurt me.

But more times than not, I was just chasing it across the arena.

And my death often came when it would shoot missiles AND the four sword waves on the latter half of the fight. And RNG favored me on the victory round since it did not do that specific combination.

I'm not familiar with the tools a Faith melee specifically has though.

I find most of the fights are enjoyable once I know what is going on. I do find some of the fights have bosses that have interesting methods to increase difficulty. Without such, it would be more enjoyable, as it basically punishes the player for getting better, and adds an element of luck over skill.

Interesting. I will give this a try.

I will try this if the hit and run method does not work. I do not like luck over skill in games like this. It feels more like artificial difficulty, to simulate a challenge, when there was nothing the player can do either way. Also, the Elden Beast is a slug?
Oh, would I do better with the halberd or the sword and shield?

I used the Lightning Ram art of war to kill it. Don't laugh, it works well.

If you're melee on Elden Beast the trick is getting in close and whaling. His close in attacks are few, weak, and highly telegraphed. From the side you can basically beatdown with near impunity. It's chasing him around while avoiding his spells that's the challenge. So weapon choice comes down to AR and attack speed to maximize the damage during the beatdowns.

Instead of chasing a dragon all over we now have to chase a slug.

Well, both are +10. I think the sword would do more damage overall, due to not running out of stamina so fast. Faith focus tends to not have bleeds or such, so it will have to be enough. I will give it another go now. Took a break to not get stressed out. I try to not let games get to me. They are meant to be fun, and I rather keep it that way.

Well, better than what I thought it was at first. It is an odd choice, after the majestic and powerful animals up to this point. Just before being the impressive cat.

I know for a fact you can get incredibly bad rng and end up hunting that derpy jellybean for like 15 minutes without killing it.

It's basically a blind marathon simulator fight.
This has left the realm of fun. I am going to put the game away until they either fix this fight to be a fair challenge, or I feel that I want to not have fun again. This is not a test of skill. It is purely luck. The first phase boss is instant teleporting on me again and again, as soon as he is at 50 percent health, and then kills me. Did it multiple times in a row now. It is pure chance that certain skills are used, and the better I do, the more idiotic the boss skills get, to ensure I have a "tough" time.

In short, this is about luck not skill, and I am not into gambling my time until a game gives me the best case scenario to win a fight.
