This is an insult. I play Elden Ring to escape my problems, not to be reminded of them. How dare they say that i am maidenless! ᵉᵛᵉⁿ ᵗʰᵒᵘᵍʰ ᶦ ʰᵃᵛᵉⁿᵗ ᵍᵒᵗ ᵒⁿᵉ ᶦⁿ ²⁰ ʸᵉᵃʳ

It really isn't an insult though. An idiot friend of mine killed Varre for saying that, despite him having one of the most important quests.

It's a simple statement of fact in the game world, that comes off probably as an unintended joke/insult in translation. Tarnished have maidens, to be without one is both uncommon and bad, hence "maidenless".
