giant stone astrolabe

in some key locations, there are these larger stone astrolabes. are they used for anything?

The crescent-shaped stones? The only thing I saw for now is that they always have a special item, which you can use to recover mana, or better yet, as currency for a certain NPC to the north.

Right, the small ones always have starlight shards, but there are bigger ones usually only in key quest locations like right before radahn fight, in the loretta fight, at cathedral of manus celes which much bigger astrolabes. I'm unsure if they serve any purpose other than decoration, though i've seen a few messages saying to do a gesture though idk which one

Oh yeah. I imagine they are just for scenery and lore. As far as I know, they have no purpose at the moment.
