Do you use summoned spirits to defeat bosses?
I tried not to do it out of silly pride, but heck, I had to do it with several bosses. I wonder if it is because they are specifically designed to use summons. What do you think?

Whenever the bosses are a repitition with no new mechanical spin or if it's duo+ it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Mimic o' clock.
If they can be copy pasted, so can I.

i use it and i dont care...

Honestly, I think Miyazaki makes fun of people's silly pride a lot, making them headbutt a wall with some "perfectly fair balanced challenging" bosses.

If you're talking about the summoned spirits, sure. If you want to do your own challenge run and avoid them, more power to you but there's a ton of them available along with an upgrade system to further improve them. Them being useful wasn't an accident.

They're there for a reason and players are expected to use them.

I often read that many players think bosses were designed with summons in mind.
That cant be true....
how can boss AI basically get confused when fighting more than 1 player when it was designed to fight multiple enemies ?

simple example.
U can be 1 health and boss is after you and you would easily die
summon attacks boss in the back -> Boss ignores you and goes after summon

I dont think the bosses were deseigned with summons in mind,
I do think summons were designed for players to not have to care about boss mechanics if they dont want to

Summon ashes exist in the game, therefore using them for any reason is perfectly reasonable.

I personally try not to use them except in particularly hard dual-boss fights, but doesn't mean anyone that DOES use them should be shunned...

It's just there to make the game more accessible due to all the whining about Easy Mode in Sekiro. It's an attempt at appeasing the masses. If that's you then, by all means. What can we do?

I absolutely use them and feel no shame. It makes most of them doable for me. I suck and this lets me play solo and not get too frustrated.
Thanks for commenting guys, by the way, the skill Hoarfrost Stomp + Mimic Tear is a combo that destroys any boss xD.

literally the game gives you buttload of stuffs to upgrade your spirits, even gave you a whole lot of diverse spirits to choose from.

tell me miyazaki didnt want people to use summons, because somehow theres a whole lot of bosses come in pairs now

i disagree, bosses now have lots of AOE and swipe attacks to hit multiple targets. 120 hours in, i can safely say that summons are part of the mechanics and if you're good at it it can be optional as well. saying that summon is for people who want to ignore mechanics are just plain wrong.

The summon areas are hand placed. It stands to reason that the fights in areas that allow summons are at least partially balanced with summons in mind, particularly since there are some bosses in areas that intentionally do not allow summons.

I throw everything I can at them. And that usually doesn't even work for me. Then I go watch a video of someone walking out of the starting area go club them to death.

I really feel like the game is balanced around using spirit ashes. I did my first playthrough without using them and some bosses were really a slog. On my second playthrough, I used some minor ones in a few fights just to tank a few hits for me, and I noticed the gameplay felt a bit smoother.

On my 3rd playthrough I used Mimic Tear. This ash is actually just busted. Once you get it to +10, it can almost solo a lot of optional bosses.

Supposedly Tiche is just as busted, if not more so, but I haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

Overall my point is that the game feels like it was designed to use ashes and you're really putting a hamper on yourself by not using them.
Suey Mar 15, 2022 @ 7:55am
Even when they really want you to use them, so far I only used them on double bosses or with a large group if Im running out of estus. But yea is pretty much game breaking with the +10 mimic.
