Stamp (Upward Cut) if you want something with hyper armor
Quickstep or Bloodhound adds movement and a quick poke
Hoarfrost Stomp for a really strong frost cone attack
Remember, the real problem is not "Some arts are great". You could nerf cool smoothie step into the pavement, and that probably would not stop it being better than the zillion weapon arts that do ♥♥♥♥ all to even basic ♥♥♥♥♥ fodder. Let alone wanting to beat the bell hunter like he owes you lunch money.
"Everyone told me wild strikes is OP because it lets you poise like giant dad. and also bleed is OP. and stagger OP. Therefore, a boat anchor with bleed grease and wild strikes will clearly EZ mode through this guy!... He is just standing there letting me hit him, is it working?-oh no I let go of the trigger and it is still swinging wild strikes. and he isn't stunned of bleeding *tackled in half*" (Then it was R1 spam with a mace to the rescue, because I could panic dodge more often with that).
On a lighter note. I have been spamming the basic bottom of the barrel stomp into horizontal swing art more often with bigger stuff. Not because it is "good", but because the arc will smack multiple dogs and rats or crowding peasants with torches compared to upward swing.
I tried using kick for a while (it is an art now, it is zero FP) but it only seems to work on trash shields. Even the most basic of knight will react to a kick by "is this input reading? feels like input reading" poising through the kick with a shield, or guard countering the kick.
