If it's the rot that's getting you, clear out the pests around the river, then trigger the fight and run back to the wider patch of ground so you have room to move and no gunk on your shoes.

I ran out of materials required to make the bolo's. I can't cure it. Literally. Its the rot that kills me and forces me to chug pots like an addict. I can't manage the efficiency properly.

Oh, it's one of the 15 thousand Ulcerated Tree Spirits. The scarlet rot ones are worse, your vision is obstructed even more, although I never thought it would be possible.

Just run back to the fallen sloped pillar (where you came down from) and range from the top, he can't do anything to you.

Or do a jump melee attack from your new high and mighty vantage point and run back up, rinse repeat...
