Other Souls game were largely linear compared to Elden Ring.
I would argue that the compass should should be an item you buy, like the torch.
The arrows are fine, plus it's not like they tell you much, or even if you did everything after doing the quests.

yes, because the most basic element of the RPG genre without with the genre would make any sense is handholding...
turning off the HUD turns off your HP, enemies HP, the things you are carrying (quickuise), the lock icon ..... not ideal at all
