Both have high scaling, apart from luzat or azur.
The only major difference is that carian regal boost moon sorceriers and cost somber, while academy only cost normal smithing stones.
I stopped using Lusat's because of the FP cost. I switched to Carian Regal Scepter and, even though it's several upgrades below my Lusat's, I'm still hitting for almost the same with Pebble, but at far less FP cost.
Don't forget the Radagon Icon talisman for faster casting (if you're not already using it).
It's a great starter staff, but it falls way behind the other staves once they're upgrade to 7+.
The problem here is, the game doesn't tell you which sorcery is actually the one of each school.
For example. Carian Glintstone says that boosts carian sword spells, but which ones are the "Sword spells"? Just the Carian ones? What about Adula's Moonlight? Loretta's Greatbow also works? That's my real problem with the staffs here.
Most of the time the first few lines in description give you a pretty good idea about it. And most of spells are sorted by school. And when it doesn't work you can still rely on testing to be sure.
if informations were made crystal clear it wouldn't be a Demon's Souls/Dark Souls/Sekiro/Elden Ring game.
Its something really stupid among the whole series. Saying +X to A/B/C/D spell is nothing weird, inmersion breaking or anything. It's just plain laziness.
Its a bit wierd with all the passive boost spell types but never 100% know which ones they are.
But i wouldnt read into that so much, its not worth it in the end..
Just try to find a staff with high scaling
What i noticed earlier, before i respecced into melee.
Luzat staff +10 and 99 int gives you 430 in scaling and carian regal scepter gives you 388
Loretta's bow uses the carian glintblade staff, not the glintstone one. The glintblade staff buffs the glintblade spells (including phalanx spells) and the loretta spells.
The glintstone staff works with the carian swords only (carian slicer, greatsword an piercer), adula is a frost spell (you need ranni's set for that one)
Loretta's is for the Glintblade yeah, and Adula's works with Glintstone, i test it. Also, the speed is barely noticeable between both, with 40 Dex + Radagon's Icon. Seems that Glintstone is better for my build.
Carian Regal Scepter
Lusat's Glintstone Staff
Azur's Glintstone Staff
Meteorite is best till you get one of those to +7 or better
Also fun fact, passives are always active, so if you have meteorite staff in left hand and lusat's staff in right hand (and cast from right hand)
You will still get the passive bonus from meteorite as well as everything you get with Lusat's
Lusat is my favorite if you have the mana to back it, otherwise you cannot go wrong with Carian Regal Scepter
Not what i'm looking at. Also, i tested Azur, and for me, is not near good option. Yeah, i can throw the Ranni DM faster, but just ONCE because of the FP consumption. Also, not the idea of the build.
Same case with Lusat's. Carian Regal gets outmatched with the Glintstone casting swords.
I think i will stick with the Carian Glintstone.
Also there is NO way that Glintstone (or glintblade) Staff scales better than Carian Regal at max level, that is simply false (even with it's passive bonus)
