Stuttering on high end pc? Try this(Root Enumerator)
I have a top end rig i9 11900K and a 3090 gfx card. I had absolutly horrible stuttering problems ruining my perfectly smooth 60fps in between the stutters.

Then i read about one potential fix that solved ALL stuttering problems for me:

Device Manager->Software Devices-> Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator
Right click this and chose disable.

I hope this can help someone else in a similar situation so we can enjoy this incredible game!

Turn off Hyperthreading in your bios.

That is a horrible idea, it will have detrimental effects on the performance of your PC.

How so?

disabling it have no real issues is there ? its meant to enable drivers to be installed but only really old ones so Im guessing its reallyn ot a big deal if its disabled

it shouldn't have any effects unless yor PC is using certain old hardware such as TWAIN or MIDI devices and some I believe SATA 1 devices, all this does is asign a value to these pieces when installing drivers, so with it disabled some of the driver will simply not be installed.

Moobis said disable hyperthreading in the bios.. Which is terrible advice.

Im the OP, so Root Enumerator disabling worked for me.

We need frame graph proofs for these kind of random performance settings suggestions.

idk why people think it's a good idea to say 'this works' without providing any supporting information whatsoever.

Yeah game has some performance issues, just gonna have to wait for them to do some patches unfortunately

Stuttering happens even on PS4
Very random, and not even always same place or enemy

Most recently had it while trying to clear asshat knight and his furry slave warrior(what else is going on there) at mr angry man’s castle.

Most of yest, didn’t happen, few of my tries tho? Ssttttttuuuuttttttteeerrrrr time, it’s to do with games “time step” mechanic, reading up on modders who make pause mechanic, exact same nonsense they describe happens when unpause where not stuttering(not other games stutter), it’s game catching up in span of a few frames

OP before make call give it at least ten hours game time, my bet is still there cos convinced it’s the game not hardware or OS related

i've had it off for years, 0 issues and it 100% fixes the 2-3 second freezes plaguing elden ring (on both my 9900k and 14900k PC's)

you're not very bright

Hyperthreading is only important for specific tasks that actually use it. Most tasks do not use hyperthreading believe it or not.

At best it's a 1-2% difference in overall performance anyways with it on.
At worst it can destroy performance.

Yep, disabling hyperthreading will cost you 4-5% performance loss at worse, in a handful of applications that are perfectly well-optimized to take advantage of it. Disabling it however, is known to resolve issues in a myriad of older games and emulators however, in some cases doubling performance.

It's not something I'd recommend permanently disabling, but can be temporarily disabled as a workaround for very specific games and use cases, and Elden Ring on some people's PCs turns out to be one of these use cases. It simply comes down to bad programming on FromSoft's side, who don't really have a solid understanding of how to correctly handle shader compilation on PC.
