All of the NPC invaders, are easier then the first boss in the game.
2 ways to get your runes back.
Option A: Sacrificial Twig on Talisman slot.
Option B: The phantom spawns when you move deeper into the room, towards the door.
Jump down, grab your runes and then run back to the balcony you jumped down from.
Wait there to die.
Should be able to jump down after reviving, grab your runes and map teleport away without triggering him to spawn.
He might be talking about a different invader that isn't in the pit.
Also if you cant kill E in round table...well. might wanna get some more practise in.
Losing souls/runes is nothing, I strongly recommend you stop worrying about it.
Everyone who plays souls games for the first time always has this mental barrier that losing souls/runes are bad, but the game has infinite souls/runes and that hardly contributes to the game (where learning enemies and overcoming the challenge is the warranted focus, not making yourself a fat purse like some trading game).
I lost around 94K souls which I got from a boss down at the a base of a tower, then immediately lost them by dying twice to some mages (which was stupid). But it didn't matter much, because I wasn't playing the game to get rich (ha!).
