NPC death during a boss fight

So if you summon an NPC from a golden summon sign for a boss fight and the NPC dies and you kill the boss, does the NPC stay dead? Like, if Blaiidd dies during the fight with Radahn will that mess up his quest line?

As with players, summoning an NPC as a support phantom never harms the NPC, even if they die; If you lose the fight, you can go back and summon them again and again with no consequence. This has been established since FromSoftware's very first soulslike.

Indeed, in some games summoning an NPC for jolly cooperation is actually how you're intended to advance their questline. I don't believe anything like this exists in Elden Ring though.

In DS1 I think I had a fight with Siegmeyer that ended up killing him and he stayed dead. That really left me gunshy about summoning helpers.

Onion bro is an example of an npc who's questline involves fighting by there side.
