You can lure him down with a special emote which you get from the first merchant
Edit: Yes you can still fail it
I have the gesture, but the guy is not at the mistwood ruins. Also, the boss he talks about, I think I already killed, which may be why he isn't there.
Also, I already gave the death item to the beast. Did that lock me out of Blaidd's quest?[spoiler/]
There's no Blaidd quest per say since he don't really offer gear during his chat sessions... Just ranni quest where you end up killing him for his gear after the end of her questline at her place.
If he no longer howls at mistwood highest point(increase sound volume...), otherwise finger snap and he'll come down to the ground, can visit Fornlorn hound evergoal again to check if he's standing outside then next at the festival at redmane castle then finally find Ranni and complete her questline.
Solution:
you have to go to the Forlorn Hound Evergaol (where u once fighted Bloodhound Knight Darriwil, now u will hear a howling there) and speak to Blaidd at the entrance of the Evergaol because Iji locked him in there, thats part of their quests after defeating Radahn.
doesnt matter if you get him down of the tower in mistwood ruins by gesturing
I realized that after beginning Rannis Quest and Blaidd wasnt their as phantom in her tower as normal after she told me that I have to speak with their companions below
yeah and after that continue as regular with Rannis Quest (collect Fingerslayer Blade and speak with her in her tower and so on)
this helps with quests
BUT
at some point in rannis quest no matter if you did blaidds first steps or not the talisman will be unlocked to purchase from iji anyways. its just easier to miss that way. this is only important for people that really want to 100% everything
blaidd is first in the mistwoods howling and you cant do anything but hear it. then when talking to Kale (first merchant in the church) you get the "finger snap" gesture. going back to mistwoods and doing the gesture near the tower the howling is coming from triggers blaidd to jump down. you can now talk to him and he tells you of darriwil. after that you can do the gaol in south limgrave (shorty before weeping peninsula) and kill darriwil. you can summom blaidd to assist but its optional. after the fight no matter if you summoned blaidd or not the will stand next to the gaol and reward you. here is where you become "friends". enabling Iji to sell the talisman directly.
this can all be skipped and does not change rannis quest. you can also do rogiers questline and some of fias to fully get the propper introduction to rannis quest. also not needed to do rannis quest but gives more dialogue/lore and some new motives
i am right now not sure about rogier and fia but for blaidd you can not actually miss anything but a 1x somber(2) and lore. the somber does not matter at all and the lore could also be looked up at youtube if you really wanted to.
once you get to caria manor or meet ranni (not sure exactly) blaidd will be gone from mistwoods and will when you enter rannis service stand in siofra river looking up searching for a way to the hidden city nokron
not true. to fail any quest in the game you have to go out of your way to fail it and killing npc is one of the ways. something no one ever should do in any souls game. having the option to kill anyone does not mean you should. before going into new game plus whenever you have any killable npc left is the point where you can do that but not anytime before ever. and having killable npc left at the end of the game already means that you most likely didnt finish their quest.
in prior souls games it was much easier to trigger events locking you out of questlines when missed before but in elden ring most quest you can do up until the end of the game and you ahve to do very specific things to make these fail. not every quest is doable at any point but most are very "stable" compared to prior from software games. most questline have many optional steps and only a few that need to be done. prior souls games didnt have optional steps. locking you out when missing any of them. the biggest hurdle in elden ring quest is to actually listen to what they say. LISTEN. and then find them. but to fail them you need to do some very wrong ♥♥♥♥
this time around most npc really tell you what to do. its not like a ubisoft quest but they do tell you details. prior games it was much more cloudy what they told you
By not meeting him early on, you will have only missed out on a smithing item as far as I'm aware, as well as obviously some story dialogue.
