Best + worst unique dungeon/level? (spoilers)
When I say unique I mean that the level is specifically not an open world side dungeon or such. Also, I'm not referring to open world areas.

I think Stormveil is the best level in the game. Later levels suffer with lacklustre level design and a tendency to simply place strong enemies on your path rather than having interesting encounters, whereas Stormveil uses different enemy types and encounter design to challenge the player in different ways... ish. And the jumping mechanic is put to good use. The area is deceptive in that it feels vast at first, but it actually not so large. It has two of the strongest bosses in the game if we include Margit.

That said, I have criticisms of the area. There's a little too much circling around and backtracking, a typical feature of levels with slightly too gratuitous branching. The enemies and encounter design are not as strong as the best levels from previous games.

And the worst without question is the Leyndell sewers where you ultimately fight Mohg. I think this is one of the worst Dark Souls levels fullstop. If there's one thing worse than fighting stone imps on top of sewerage pipes, it's a labyrinth constructed of sewerage pipes.

Not super big, but I like the Shaded Castle.

I just finished the first part of Haligtree, beat the first boss, and upon descending the elevator I left a message saying something like "why is it always depths?"

I think I'm done with this game, and I really do not want to play another bad dungeon. Going through one bad dungeon and being met with another is like a spit in the face. But I probably will finish it just so I can say I have...

Isn't that the castle with the poisonous bog around it? I hated that level

Other than Haligtree, I can think of only one dungeon that has caused me a lot of rage.

I don't remember the name of it, but you have to ride one of the guillotine traps up to a ledge. But there's 3 archer skeletons and several other skeletons in the room, and they can't be killed because they're being kept alive by a necromancer that is on the ledge you're trying to get to. Not only that, he's out of line of sight, so you can't even try to snipe him with a ranged weapon. Fk that place.

that kinda make me wonder why holy weapons doesnt kill undead and preventt resurection . would make more sense . like divine weapons in ds 1

There's a holy weapon art that gives you that power.

It wouldn't work in this dungeon tho. The skeletons don't fall to the ground, they stop at one hp and can't be knocked down.

Favorites: Stormveil and the Capital, both in layout and especially Leyndell in terms of mood and scenery.
Mechanically, I don't have one I particularly disliked, except all the hero graves and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ chariots.

Castle Morne was a nice setpiece, but was mechanically very uninspired.

Favorite- Probably Leyndell, it actually feels like a city where people could have lived organically before everything went to hell.

Least Favorite- Crumbling Farum Azula, most linear of the legacy dungeons, and it felt like a boss rush with a bunch of minibosses-turned-trash-mobs tossed in.
