That is incorrect, avoiding the lightning attack is as easy as just hopping onto the horse and just circling around him.
I beat him as level 1 and no weapons/spirit upgrades.
You can dodge his lightning just before it hits. I couldn't avoid getting hit by the lightnings when mounted on Torrent, but I did on foot.
I casted a strong spirit (Banished Knight Oleg +3) to distract him and them blasted him from a distance with Rock Sling, the strongest spell I had. Had to dodge many times anyway, and I was using all the protection I could, including a mix in the Flask of Wondrous Physick.
This was one of the toughest bosses for me so far too. Died like 6-7 times at least. Later bosses in the game are a lot easier.
Alternatively, depending on their build, Big rot breath. Or both tbh.
We can help, if you need just put down the password. Worry less about the boss more about the invaders. Since it's a open world boss it's one of the most heavily invading area. That and Commander O'Neil
Invaders are pathetic like that.
