There's spells you find in Farum Azula that are weaker than spells you find in the first 10 minutes of the game.
There's 0 sense of progression except for the fact that it feels like some bosses have a "level check" where if you're not over a certain level you'll get one shot, I'll go in the same fight 10 levels later with the same exact gear and now the boss is a breeze, never experienced that in other FromSoft games.
In PvP, it rarely kills. Only dudes with like 20 VIG or less dying, it's bloody frustrating to just watch them roll backward and chug a heal to full HP right after landing a tricky shot on them.
This thing is slow AF and has a heavy arc. It's HARD to hit a moving and wary target, basically impossible if they use Bloodhound Step or the like. Doesn't help that it uses so much stamina to fire and has such long post-cast idle frames that they can, again, retreat and heal before you've even readied another shot...
After they were knocked down.
This is just absurd. It suffers even harder in PvE, due to the lengthy post-cast idle frame BS and the total lack of scaling. I love this mortar, but my gods it is just so BAD
Like, this thing lobs a 100% fire-element shot. It's essentially a pyromancy incantation.
I have legit tested, found similar spells to the effect that can be fired more rapidly and for pretty well the same damage... And they don't even cost 80-90% of your stamina gauge to toss.
Heck, they even fly further through the air.
This mortar is a depressing, MP-draining, stamina-slashing joke.
Could make like... A whetstone-like thingy, to change the crossbows and make them eat FP instead of ammo; grant them some scaling in addition.
Pretty sure some Ashes of War do similar already for bows, FP aside?
