You assume tech wont improve, which it always does. Also ER came out last month? And it runs better than Cyberpunk. Granted most things run better than that game but still.
At least the lines make sense. Sometimes less is more.
Quick Question.
Why should a company spend money on something like ultrawide support, that only around 2% of the userbase uses ?
simple answer: dont use stuff/settings which arent the standard.
That was not always the case.
It was honestly kind of a dumpster fire at launch.
Also it looks like trash.
A HEAVILY modded Oblivion can look *almost* as good as Elden Ring does, although that 100% does not count because modders have had a decade and a half to work on it, which is more time than any professional video game development team is ever going to be given.
And if you enable more than the bare minimum of distant LODs it absolutely does *not* run buttery smooth with no fps drops, even on top of the line modern equipment, lol.
Or at least not far off
As a developer, why wouldn't you fully utilize the platform that you are developing for?
Especially if your fanbase is asking for that for 10 years.
And they are selling millions of copies. If only 10 people would buy their games on PC, I would agree with you, why waste their time and money. But Elden Ring on PC made like 200 million+ USD after tax alone.
It requires really low effort to support this resolution, the only thing they had to do is to anchor the UI elements, to scale with the aspect ratio.
just FYI
maybe you need do some research first, before u will spread false claims
Anyhow, Bethesda is a PC developer, Fromsoft is not. If you don't like how bad they are at PC ports then buy their games on console. It's a simple solution to a simple problem. It's not new.
From a gaming point of view, id absolutely say that its open world is superior to ER, though that doesnt answer the original question, i know...
