I have never used a controller but for games that have a crappy key set up, and don't let you remap some keys, I use an Azeron. I am a left handed mouse player so the Azeron let me bind any key command to any key. Even if the developer gives me a bad key bind setup I can map that bad keybind set to a better setup with my Azeron rig. It is a wonderful thing and a great tool for KBM players.
I changed maybe 2-3 keybinds in total, can't remember which unfortunately, but you are somewhat limited in your keybind options.
It's not terrible, but it definitely requires some testing to see what works best for you.
Left mouse button to block
Right mouse button to attack
Mouse wheel up to roll
Mouse wheel down to target/un-target
middle mouse button to power attack
Num 0 to use
Num 1 to jump
Num 4 to dash
Ctrl to duck
Right shift for special attack
Enter to use Items
Works a treat for me.
Plus home, Del, End, Page down for items
I just wish I could rebind menu keys, maps and the esc key as well.
Very unique setup I'd say, but if it works for you, all the more power to you!
I started gaming when the arrow keys were the norm, just what im used too. I have tried the WASD keys but I suck using them.
As for rolling, I find the mouse wheel up to be prefect
just have to accept it will not be perfect
my setup:
movement - WASD
Dpad - 1234 (1 = up, 2 = down, 3 = left, 4 = right)
right hand attack - M1
left hand attack - M2
camera toggle - M3
charged attack - M4, Q
weapon art - F
interaction - E
sprint/dodge - Shift
crouch - C
jump - spacebar
walk - alt
With that aside, I choose to replace the following inputs, and maybe it can help you too.
Mouse left = light attack
Mouse right = heavy attack
Side button = ash of war / weapon skill
Mouse wheel up = change spell (never used it)
Mouse wheel down = change item
C = switch left hand
V = switch right hand (haven't used this two a single time, since I'm 2 handing STR weapons, but maybe you find it useful)
Shift = jump
Ctrl = block (Never used it, but if you powerstance, just switch ctrl to left mouse button)
With just this configured, compared to the original binds, the enjoyment for this game for me went up by about 2000%, give or take. There is no reason to bind 3 actions for left mouse, when you have literally over a hundred to choose from.
