I will be away for 2 weeks and I will not have internet (I'll be at sea). I tried playing Elden RIng with Steam in offline mode (and without my pc connected to the internet). Steam opens in offline mode no problem, but when I launch the game I am greeted with a message saying that it couldn't be synced and that my data might be deleted. How safe is to play Elden Ring this way? Will I be able to continue my game where I left it? Will I be able to resume the same progress once I get back or will my "offline progress" be lost? Or maybe even my previous online progress?

Yes you will. When you connect to the internet again and turn steam online you will be presented with a dialog that asks which save file you want to use, local or cloud.

ALWAYS select local, and be warned it's the 2nd option! Make sure you read before you click or you will lose your progress.

So, I can keep playing my current playthrough in offline, then resume when I get back no problems? Opening the game in offline mode won't instantly delete/overwrite my current playthrough somehow?

I've had this kind of problem, but it was because internet had a problem for a few hours. Later, with internet back, steam asked me when i launched the game if i would like to keep my saves from local or cloud, and I choosed local (because no internet), and my save was ok, my progress while offline still here, so I think it won't be a problem

ps: excuse my english, I'm french

Marvelous, I really don't want to pause my game for 2 weeks. So I'll just do it offline while I'm at sea and I will continue when I get back

You absolutely can. Just make sure you read when the popup from steam happens.

Alternatively, to set your mind at ease, go to C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\EldenRing and back up the two files that start with ER0000.sl2 and ER0000sl2.bak(backup). Make sure you show hidden files in order to be able to see the AppData folder.

In my exp I'd back up your saves just in case because anytime anything I ever tried to cross play for even a minute from offline to online usually always erased my data entirely 100% guaranteed.

Fantastic, I will make regular backups, just in case. Hopefully I won't need to use them and I'll make sure to read the popup very carefully to not mess things up
