One and only bump.
You had 40 what?
That is stated in the OP that Vitality is defense to Death status buildup.
My question is in addition to that defense.
That jsut means you didn't get hit by one of the one shots, but 40 vigor won't save you from specific one shots, like astel's grab attack.
So there is like way to toughen up without and basically, iirc almost every stat in some way can help boost overall resistances (far right hand side of the screen)
Where endurance is a great stat over all
Increase total amount of gear can wear and comfortable roll with
Increases stamina and each point raises resistances by 1. Now not much but adds up and continues past soft cap of the skill.
This basic logic for like soft cap bonuses peter out but still get gains on resistances for skill points, GENERALLY true for most stats
But like, I don’t think any resistances ever equal 100% negation of damage, so without vig and enough HP to back it up, at best be mitigating damage, worst one shot by nearly everything regardless
Incorrect. Vigor increases health. Vitality is defensive stat: defense against death.
FYI- My health is 434. The Astrologer has the lowest starting vigor (9). I have 10 vigor. The second lowest vigor you can get. However, I survive many big hits with a tiny sliver of health. That is why I am asking the question.
That is what I am thinking too. I know it impossible to prove a negative. Just seeing if anyone has anything more concrete to back it up either way.
One thing I noticed early on, around Stormveil is actually... I think I might know what you mean, you're saying right that occasionally you are left on only a tiny sliver of health, the 'magic pixel'? Being hit by things that should kill you, but you live on just barely?
I dunno, I've seen it once or twice during an invasion, hosts that should die but don't, and I've experienced it myself... I don't know for sure if the game has some kind of like, 'gimme' if an attack would otherwise just barely kill you, and then it doesn't. I'm not sure if that's a thing, but I don't notice it anymore let me tell you, at level 120 or whatever during endgame.
Maybe it's a low vigor thing? I don't really have anything to contribute except speculation, but I did notice on many occasions not quite getting owned when it really felt I should be.
