Thoughts on Elden ring OST?
I think it's a huge miss. I haven't beaten the game yet but I have yet to hear a memorable track other than the menu screen and I am very, very huge on music pumping me up in boss fights. It's largely my reason for playing their games. Granted I haven't been going against main bosses and been fighting their asset dump bosses but still Margit OST is eh. So I was very concerned to what I'm about to expect and been listening to their entire soundtrack here and there regardless of spoiler in the titles and....it was an underwhelming listening session. I wasn't listening to each one fully so it might be unfair to judge it but I think there's been one tracks that somewhat caught my ear and thats the trailer music. Godfrey or something. I have seen people say the series is just a generic orchestra and I had always disagreed but for this game I'm inclined to agree. Dark souls 3 had millions of views on their soundtrack and it was very popular on launch already. Rightfully so it had a lot of bangers whether you don't like the epic direction. Bloodborne is pretty godly too so what happened here? Why does it feel underwhelming to me? What are your thoughts? Am I wrong? Care to recommend me a track in the game which you think is the best I will give it a second listen. I also might have a change of heart if I actually got to hear music in game so who knows.

What both bugs me and I find hilarious, is my encounters with field bosses. Sometimes, I'm on my way somewhere else and don't want to deal with them. So the moment they see me, they crank up the epic, operatic music. 15 second later, when the boss de-aggros, it stops.

By the way Living failures from Bloodborne is a Hidden gem and I can't shill it enough. Nobuyoshi Suzuki doesn't get enough credit
you mean to tell me you didn't ♥♥♥♥ yourself when you first encountered the tree sentinel and the music started?

i'd call you a liar if you said anything other than "yes i shat myself"

So far the only notable OST that's been sticking out to me is Tree Sentinel's. The rest has rather blended together and is one big muddle.

Been playing for about 200 hours since release and thought just the same a few days ago. Now, the OST is not bad, its just not memorable and feels like hearing 2 steps from hell or something.

Compared to BB and DS3 that had many tracks that instantly clicked with me, this one has been a miss ion that regard :(

Now, I love the game in everything else, but yeah the soundtrack has been a bit disappointing.

There are a few really standout tracks on the OST. Overall, I think it's very high quality, but the style isn't quite to my tastes.

I've always loved the emotional tracks in Dark Souls, the likes of Gwyndolin, Sif, Abyss Watchers, Daughters of Ash, Majula etc. - those mixed in with the incredible scores of other bosses made the OSTs 'overall' excellent.

Bloodborne was absolutely stellar (pun kinda intended).

And I have always looked forward to the Credits Theme of a Souls game (Demon's Souls is still my favourite). Elden Ring disappointed me in this aspect. It has one boss OST that gave me similar vibes. I was really disappointed by the Credits Theme.

Even so, all of the tracks are good, just to me it's an overwhelming barrage of epic and nothing cooler to mellow things out between.

Malenias theme is the best for me. Really has that final boss feel to it

Say this, I appreciate not same through out and areas have unique tracks

Some bosses really liked so far too

Overall good but over time runs risk of becoming very repetitive and personally not huge fan of minimalist approach for some areas, namely limgrave’s combat music, just grates after a while so ended up turning music down to be honest

In my opinion every boss that has an achievement when you beat it has really good music llike Mohg, placidusax or horoah lox.

Yeah Iudex Gundyr pretty much kicks probably everything I heard so far from this game lol
Then again the Main menu theme from DS3 is just cheating at this point

It's about on the same tier as DS3's imo. Not bad, but not super memorable outside of a few bosses.

BB was the height of boss themes imo, and DS1 did the quieter, somber tracks the best. Nameless Song is still the best song in the entire series imo.

I feel you. I jumped to the credit theme on Youtube and was disappointed as well.
And yeah Demon's souls is pretty good conflicted on which is better though. Personally I think DS3 is a personal favorite of mine, might not be as thematic as Demon souls but I just like it felt like closing a book to Dark souls.

Not very memorable. Serviceable to reinforce the world and atmosphere the game is going for I'd say.
