Why do you care? Just play it and discover that by yourself.

IMO yes. I have completed the game fully with the exception of 2 bosses I missed and will need to get on NG+. This is hands down the easiest FromSoftware game to date

I'd say it's not a 'bad' starting point. While it's not the best 'souls' game, it's the most accessible. There's a wider variety of options and tools to help you, and the open world nature makes it a lot less likely to get 'hard stuck' than the more linear titles.

It does suffer a bit from asset recycling and content bloat, but if you can look past that it's a generally fun time.

Possibly the BEST starting point to the genre because it is so accessible compared to prior souls games...

For sure it is.
I only played demons souls and a bit of darks souls 1 and 3…so im pretty new aswell. The open world is more accessible than previous versions and theres plenty of sites of grace about that you can fast travel to.
I think its a great starting point honestly.

No.
the game is bad and completely unbalanced, it is bad to start with, i would recommend ds3.

I'd have said give DS3 a try fist, but there are ongoing issues that are stopping online play with all the DS games at the moment.

Great summary here. It isnt a true Dark Souls experience but a great starting point that may make you decide to pursue Dark Souls or Sekiro. Sekiro is personally my favorite hands down

Agreed with Dustin1280. There are mechanics in the game that make it incredibly accessible for new players.

Yes, because even if you struggle with the combat at first you can put your RPG skills to use. Go around level up, get better stuff, upgrade weapons etc... Makes it more approachable because you are never hardlocked into a single fight, there is always something else you can do to go get stronger.

Its my first sould game aslo and im devouoring this game. Be patient with the fights and you should be fine if you have 2 brain cells.

Souls are not that hard as people make you believe.

Yes of course. But to be fair there's no bad point to start.

Sure but it might be jarring to play the older games once you've got a feel for the controls/quality of life things Elden Ring has. Either way, you're gonna be experiencing one of the best games ever.

it's the perfect starting point, it's the most "accessible" one in the franchise

sometimes is not the easiest, but it's a fair experience and difficulty

i have lots of friends who never liked Dark Souls and are loving Elden Ring
