Q: Second Pouch Items?
I'm playing Elden Ring on my PC using a Xbox One controller. I can bring up the pouch by pressing up on the D-pad, but if I hit Y while the pouch is on screen another pouch appears with more items. How do I assign items to this second pouch?

I've been Googling on this for a while and have found nothing to help me with this - all I get is pouch tutorials, but no one mentions how to get items on the second pouch.

Can anyone help me with this?

hit your menu button and tab over with the dpad to the menu on the right

Yeah I know how to do that, but my question was how to assign items to the second pouch - the one that appears by hitting Y

Exactly how Stolid said it works . Open your menu and press Right. Hover over the spots and press Y

Ok I did that, but it just opens another menu and I haven't a clue how to use that. It doesn't have access to any of the things that are currently in the second pouch. Those are the things I'm trying to locate.

Ok that's the first pouch items (or second, sorry i'm getting confused). I'm trying to locate the items that appear on the second one when I push Y (while the first one is up if I hit Y a second one appears).

I'd take a screenshot myself to help show this, but I have no idea how to screenshot the game.

I think either people or I misunderstood you. To me out sounds like additionally to the regular pouch, if you hold the use button tho display the pouch can you actually toggle to another pouch? People think you're talking about the regular pouch.

When you press dpad down you can switch through the items that you assigned in your 'equipment' menu, holding the button will show you your pouch and you can use the displayed items with the dpad. You can assign your pouch on the right side menu after pressing start.

So you already assigned your pouch but you can swap to another pouch that is currently unassigned did I get that right? If so that's new to me, I def. have to check that out.

Hi frisch, thanks for the reply. If I could take some screenshots I could show you guys what I'm talking about. Instead I'll try to explain it...

If I hit up on the D-pad I get the pouch or whatever in the lower left of the screen - this one has my shield, sword, whistle and a couple of spells. If I press Y while this pouch is on screen it shows a second pouch or whatever that has my flasks and a lantern.

The thing is if I bring up the menu I can see the flasks and such on the right side of the screen and it's easy to just select any of those and change them. The problem is I have no idea where or how to access those items on the first pouch - my sword, shield, etc.

That's what I'm trying to figure out.

You can change what items show up on your default "pouch" in the Equipment tab. Right at the bottom, under the talisman slots, that's where consumables and other items go. Then on the field you press down to scroll through the items assigned in the Equipment window.

These items are mostly managed in the Equipment menu. When you open the menu with the second pouch on the right side, Equipment is the top option on the left side.

Left cycles left hand armaments, right cycles right hand armaments, equipped at the top of the equipment menu
Down cycles through the usable items; you can set up to 10 in the equipment menu that you can cycle through this way. These are the bottom two rows of equipment.
Up arrow cycles through memorized spells (sorceries, incantations). These are swapped while resting at a Grace rather than through the equipment menu.

I think I get it now.

The dpad is for your 'equipment', up is for spells, left for left amarments, right for right amarments and down for consumables. If you hold the dpad directions, you'll get a quickswap menu for the respective category, e.g. hold dpad down to see all slotted consumables and quick select with r-stick.

Now if you don't press use but instead hold it, your pouch will be displayed, that's 4 items max and you can assign those on the right side of your menu, above the area where you can use and assign emotes. But only 4 slots, the bottom two slots won't show up in your quick pouch.

I hope this helps, check the UI for more info.

What about keyboard and mouse controls? Trying to figure out how to use the pouch without having to press Esc to do so.

Holding a dpad direction only seems to have a special effect for Dpad Down, which seems to reset you to the first slot for tools (consumables/reusables).

The four slot quick select is for holding down Interact (controller Y button) and then pressing the corresponding dpad direction.

With default keybinds, you would hold E then press the corresponding arrow key for the slot you want to use.

You're correct I forget about the special function regarding dpad down, this should select the first consumable in slot. But dpad right as an example should open a circle menu of all primary amarments you have equipped and with r-stick you should be able to select the one you want. Sorry for the mistake.

Ok I started a new game and discovered something. After entering the world I brought up the quick menu by pressing up on the D-pad and in there was my shield (left), sword (right), some spells or something (up) and a memory of grace (down).

When I entered the main menu and clicked on Equipment I saw that those items were in that screen. Then back on the main menu I moved over to the section on the right, which were all blank. When I clicked one of these blank squares it opened a screen titled Pouch 1, where I could choose my flasks and a couple other things I wanted.

So....the first menu I see when pushing up on the D-pad are called quick items, which can be accessed (and changed) in the Equipment screen. The second one (when I push Y) is the actual pouch that can be accessed over on the right from the main menu.

This isn't confusing enough, they should have made it harder, lol
