Do you think that Elden Ring is rather unfair than hard?
You can tell me to git gud but the more I play, the more I feel like this game is rather unfair in many ways. Like enemies can hit through obstacles while you cannot, not just their melee attack but some of their skills also can go through obstacle. Their jump attacks will track your evasion like a homing missile while yours will be missed if they keep moving. I did test this with some enemies, it's clear that they can redirection their attacks mid air if you evade a bit early, they can also fly further to hit you if you step back. The rule that is applied to you doesn't apply to the enemies, it's just unfair. Then there's the size of the bosses and the stupid camera.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the game but I wish it could be a bit more fair.

Yeah it's DS2 2. Gank squads and AOE bosses abound

You can actually aim your jump attack, but has to be without the lock on

At least in Ds2, they don't spam their attacks and recover as fast as this game.

Sounds like this is your first From Software game.

Being hit through walls etc has always been a thing in Souls series, so it's par for the course.

I kinda dislike bring back the DkS2 tracking but I played that game to death so it doesn't bother me as much as it does others. It still bothers me slightly ngl. You get used to it.

multiple hundreds of hours in every from soft game, and there are plenty of encounters that were downright terrible

It's definitely unbalanced. Some bosses are extremely easy while some mobs can one shot you. 115 hours in I've had 99% good times but damn, some mobs and bosses are ridiculous.
Gargoyles was a bit hard at first but with the right team not bad. Rahdan was stupid that I cheesed it. FIre giant was just brutal I eventually cheesed that. Godkin duo wtf?

I don't want to cheese bosses, I want the challenge, I found Gargoyles challenging even though some consider them the worst. But the others are plain unfair.

You can check my profile, this is not the first nor the last. But I can't recall anything that is unfair in other souls game (include other non Fromsoft games) like this game. I enjoy DS3 a lot.

godskin duo makes malenia, gargoyles, elden beast, everything after it looks easy... never died soo many times on a boss in this game

I have played a few thousand hours of souls games over the years on console and PC and I never got as frustrated at them as I did today. I almost deleted my lvl 90 mage to build something else.
I feel like you either have to respec for some bosses or extremely overlevel.

Good points but comparing them to what the player can do is a moot point, they are very much supposed to be more capable than you, you are the underdog, having it be completely even across the board doesn't make much sense

Definitely some artificial difficulty moments with certain enemy move sets and AOE damage that follows after, resulting in inevitable insta-deaths

There's definitely times where I feel some ♥♥♥♥ is quite cheap, but nothing unabashedly broken. Then again, I have been playing the whole game so far with a friend. It definitely colors things a certain way and I realize that. In the instances where I've had to fight by myself, I haven't encountered anything that makes me write the game off. I -do- have impression, however, that maybe not everything in this game received as much polish as From's other work.

Sometimes, it feels like they chose the easier route of adding another enemy to an encounter or giving a boss excessive amounts of AOE rather than the laborious fine-tuning we've seen before. Again, it's not a gamebreaking matter. There have just been some fights in the game where I felt like that wasn't their best work. I'd beat the guy and instead of feeling that rush of satisfaction/relief, I'd instead be annoyed or even bored. I doubt that's their intention.
