What is with the massive spike in difficulty when getting to Mountain of Giants?
Like right before getting into it, i beat bosses easily, and did massive damage, and then went and farmed to level 150, with a 10+ Metoric Katana, 22+ shield, and 65 health.. Yet enemies when i hit them don't do anything at all, and they are killing me in 2-3 hits... Like thats a bit much no? I wasnt expecting to beat them as easily, but jeeeeez, thats too big.

I didnt see a massive spike when getting there. Have fun in the haligtree though, the boss there will slam your ass and you to call her mama.

I was 70-80 when going there (and I could clear the content in it). You absolutely don't need to be 150+.

I'm lvl 114 with a ~+23 greatsword and +9 grafted sword and I don't notice anything too different. Those first enemies you come across in the ruins are pretty tough, and come to think of it some of the new enemies I just came across do have pretty big health pools but they're big enemies. being killed in 2-3 hits has been pretty consistent throughout the game for me though. IDK what the stat soft caps are in this game but it could be you're starting to get diminishing returns on your investment into health at 65 and the area enemies are just designed to hit like trucks, I don't know details like that yet though.

out of curiosity whats your damage output?

I stopped leveling at 125. Did the whole Mountaintops and Haligtree.
Haligtree definitely spikes in raw stats of enemies.

It's good imo, late/endgame areas should be tough. Same with bosses.

I wasn't even 150 when I beat the game. But if you think Mountaintops of Giants is bad, just wait until Haligtree and Crumbling Faram Azula.

yeah. I never had an issue with mobs until these two areas. They hit hard. Made me feel underleveled but i dont think i was.

Most of u do this because of previous souls. Based on softcaps that are different and the skill requirements. I can assure you, 125 is not gonna be the levelcap for pvp in elden ring.
Just puting that as a sidenote. Its gonna be higher. Specially because of weapon damage with 25+ levels.
I did some pvp, i 2 shot most people i run into. You need more stats.

But yes, everything till mountain tops is easy because you are overleveled, or can be. You can have a 25+ before mountaintops/etc.
One of the reasons this game feels easy is because you can get overpowered midgame with the right tools. This is their fault for puting 25 weapon levels instead of 10, it just means that it creates a bigger gap.

But its only a matter of time till the content catches up to the gap you made by overleveling your gear.
Everything after mountain tops is old dark souls. you will struggle, haligtree is the worst areea in the whole game for sure.

this game if split looks something like this:
first 25% of content -hard, getting started n gear
25 to 80% - overleveled my gear its easy
85-100% of content - ♥♥♥♥ is catching up to my gear its hard again.

I am lvl 149 or 150 and just finished Mountain of Giants and that zone alone honestly lowered my desire to play NG+. It is horrible, especially the last 1/3 right before the Fire Giant

I was lv81 at mountain. lv17+19 katanas. IDK my stats. Take it from someone who likes to tank darksouls games. dont put all your work in health, take about 3/4 of all your level points and put it in stamina and strength, it lets you block. get atleast lv32strength for one of my favorite greathsheilds, then go stamina with the other 25% in health. Learn boss mechanics/ moves and its all about timing. Follow the patterns. And not all builds are the same, this is jsut what i do for tanks. I used a dex build this game but im making a tank now. doesnt seem much different.

consider most of the game should feel like that, if they actually put caps on gear upgrades. :)
eg, like sekiro. or even previous souls games as u couldnt have a +9 weapon midgame.

but no, they let u go 20+ if u explore a bit in elden ring.

Its simple maths/balance. obvious as day if u look at it.

As someone who has beaten the game and all bosses, i can tell you what i believe is the issue. So at the higher level areas my personal belief is that the trash mobs hit at a percentage of your health, and not a set amount of HP damage - so the higher up in vigor you go, the larger chunk of your health is taken (since you have a larger pool of HP). I tested this a few times rebirthing my stats and adjusting to see if the damage went up/down with higher/lower vigor. It appeared that as my HP went up - so did the damage of the hits. This wasn't so with the bosses, but with open world enemies. This makes me think there is a scaling in place to keep the world competitive for level grinders (although idk why, since new game+ is where it should be competitive). For reference, I am level 285

No they dont hit for a % of health. Its just that those areas are tuned for fully upgraded gear. Thats all.
