ELDEN RING

ELDEN RING

View Stats:
Still can't play.
So, after three hours of troubleshooting on Sunday, a pow-wow with my Monday night gaming crew (2 software engineers, a web dev, and 2 Network Admins) and still nothing. So far we had tried:
-updating graphics drivers
-updating direct X
-Updating steam cloud save status
-updating steam beta participation
-uninstalling/reinstalling
-verifying local files
-updating C++ distributables
-resetting system
-running as administrator
-allowing access through firewall
-updating anitvirus protocols
-updating BIOS
-two clean installs after running RevoUninstaller
-brute forcing every combination of overlay/steam cloud connectivity/secure start/run as admin/et. alt. elimination of variables possible.
-screaming, violently
I still can't play.

Hell, the game won't even run first time setup. Game will launch, and then the process closes immediately.

Error log reads:

Faulting application name: start_protected_game.exe, version: 1.3.3.0, time stamp: 0x620632ef

Yeah, they got my service ticket. I suspicion that Easy Anti-Cheat is at the root of my problem. Just putting it out there in case others were having a similar struggle.

have you tried disabling EAC with either of the 2 methods described in the forums? 1 involves renaming the exe in the install folder, the other by adding a folder with a simple text file then using the exe rather than steam to launch.

I FOUND A WAY TO PLAY OFFLINE:
- Go to C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Elden Ring\Game
- Copy elden ring.exe
-Paste in the same folder
-Rename stat_portected_game file into wathever you want
- Rename the copy of elden ring.exe into start_protected_game

In your case, this might actually be either.

Bad ram, Bad mem timings, or to much of an OC on memory.
Or vram config is not large enough.

Could be an issue somewhere else. It would help if you posted your system config with a thread like this. like OS version, CPU, MEM, GPU..

I did attempt this solution. Same program termination upon execution.

This is a recently constructed computer. Stop trying to be a troll.

Exception code: 0xc00000fd means a stack overflow, not much you can do. If you can, I'd install Windows 10 to see - I bet it's some kind of weird interaction on Win 11 they haven't hit in QA since it's not that popular yet.

Also, I would rather downgrade everything than upgrade.
