Would you consider these rune farms on youtube etc cheating?
I mean it feels like a grey area, in a way it isn't cheating, but in another it feels like it is

You got the rolling ball which gives you 2k, 300k per hour

You have the AFK area after beating the redmane castle boss rodahan?

I seen a video about luring a enemy off the cliff and they're getting 12k per time it dies

Do you guys do it? I assume many do, but would you consider it cheating?

*edit* Also the person that gave me a clown reward, you're a child, get some fresh air :p

No. The Game is an RPG. The Goal is to be strong. I won't be doing exploits. However, I do cap off my levels with my farm spots. Sorry. I am not running around with nearly a full level of Runes on me. Especially now that I'm closer to the end.(Level 105 or 106 atm)

I dont farm but ill go pop the bird off the cliff if im close enough to get a level and one kill pushes me over that before i go take on a boss....thats about it though.

I don't consider it cheating. You could call it an exploit I suppose, in the case of the rolling ball and AFK/luring rune farms. Those aren't even the most efficient rune farms. The efficient ones require actively killing mobs, which definitely isn't cheating.

I've jumped into a afk farming spot a couple of times for 20 minutes after losing to a boss or two. I generally try to farm my own souls manually, because I enjoy playing the game. However, it doesn't make a functional difference whether you get the souls from killing things or get them from things killing each other. So may as well go make a sandwich while I get a little boost and try to come at it with a clear mind, a full stomach, and a couple extra levels.

However, I should also state that I don't really care if anybody else outright cheats. Whether a person grinds their own souls, sits at a afk spot to farm them for free, or uses a trainer to just give themselves souls right away. I really don't care what other people are doing with their time in a game, so the distinction is moot to me.
farming souls takes too long if anything. all the good spots are end game areas that require vastly OP builds to take advantage of. that said, as soon as i entered NG+, i made a beeline for the red finger quest to unlock mohgs area, and make 60k+ with a single sword swing from the final bosses sword. still didnt come close to the amount id make by running to mohg/elden beast ASAP and wiping them as fast as possible. mohg is quite a bit easier, and on ng+ with the gold scarab nets you slightly over 1,000,000 souls, the same as elden beast on ng with the gold scarab. the only issue is cheeseing the elden beast fast enough to make this a viable strat. overall, most enemies drop far too few souls and there needs to be a buff to all of their drop rates.

Leveling up costs metric ♥♥♥♥ tons. I don't think it's too bad. I don't think it should be overdone but using em to get some runes to polish up a build isn't nearly as bad as it could be. Especially for some builds that desperately need the levels. Like incantation casters.

without reading other replies.

No it is not Cheating it is simply farming Runes...

No i dont do it why would i it takes wayyyy to long to get a few levels out of it. i if need a quick 5k for some weapon upgrades then yes i go around and kill a few enemies but not for leveling.

Let people play their games how they want, they have no real benefits in doing it besides making their playtrough easier for them...
Its called Farming & Grinding!!!
This has been a Staple for EVERY RPG that there is always ALWAYS a Specific Location for Farming & Grinding.

Cheating is using ACTUAL Cheat Engine.
LEARN the Two Difference!

Saying Farming & Grinding is Cheating shows people don't even know anything about RPGs in General.

Definitely not cheating. Farming like that has existed since the oldest JRPG's.

You're going to get a mix bag of responses because there are a lot of people, no matter how blatant the exploit will say "I can do it so it's intended."

Bruh they prob think using the remembrance shrines to dupe a boss soul is cheating lmao
Not really thats a respawn

I don't think its cheating but it's also unnecessary... unless you're trying to min max your build for pvp i don't think its ever necessary to grind for levels. I never stopped once to grind runes and reached lvl 120 for the endgame, which seems just fine for me.

They put the monsters there with a lot of souls and you expect me not to kill them repeatedly?

If they actually balanced out the rune reward so you could farm other places instead of these spots it'd be somewhat more fun but I need Runes. A lot of them. Like ridiculous amount of them to satisfy my hunger.
Cooperal Mar 8, 2022 @ 2:40pm
Cheap? Sure. Cheating? Not really and why is it my business?

There are countless slower and equally safe ways to farm, and for the sake of their own sanity I would prefer they got the cheapening bit over and done with quickly. If you are not progressing in any other sense it is just busywork. Not fulfilling for anybody.

It's not cheating.
