Is it bad to put all your stats into Endurance first to equip powerful weapon and armor?
So im playing strength, and I want to equip Greatsword + Cleanrot Armor - which cause 65.7 equip load!!!!!

I am playing strength build, and I have 31 strength and 17 vigor. If I keep on upgrading Endurance to be able to equip these items on "medium load", I'll be around Level 65 or so with Strength 31 and 17 Vigor, but my Endurance would be almost 50.

Is this bad????? Will I struggle from low Vigor points or it is completely viable to do so this way? Is it worth the investment just so I can equip thse items and upgrade Vigor and Strength later? Thank you!

I've got 52 end and 55 strength with 30 vigor, i can tank most things in my heavy armor and almost nothing breaks my shield guard with a upgraded gilded greatshield, dont let the haters tell ya otherwise :p course if you pvp tho.. might be a different story since theres a billion spells that will 1 shot you regardless

Does upgrading the shield makes it better at blocking? I tried doing it but it only seemed to increase the damage and scaling.
I don't think so. At least it hasn't from what I've seen. "Guard Boost" is the stat the determines stamina loss now, which is much more confusing than just calling it "Stability" like in previous games.
I feel like by level 60 ish ill be able to equip these items but not sure if its gonna be tough time trying to level up vigor from then on

It increases the guard boost which makes you take lesser stamina when you get hit while blocking, now if u add greatshield tali with that.. you legit never ever get damaged or guard brocken lol

Yeah, it’s vigor that stops one-shots not armor

It's dodging and blocking that stops one shots. Vigor lets you survive your own mistakes.
I'm on this camp. I level up endurance and then vitality. I also love glass cannon builds so take that for what's it's worth. I'm all about action count: more stamina means more actions.
Would you like us to just play the game for you, since you cant be bothered to do anything on your own, like find out for yourself?

so I should just forget the armor for now and start levelling up my vigor instead of phtting any more points to endurance?

Is there such thing as an endurance build?
Depends how much you like the look of the armor. I did FashionSouls 1st and fit the rest of my build around that.
Yeah you'll get talismans that increase equip load. I think I have 2 of them equipped right now.

Running full Scaled Armor Set + Icon Great Shield + Magma Wyrm and I need to keep Godrick's rune active to wear everything. Level 77ish right now with 30 hard points into endurance + the 2 talismans + 5 points from Godrick's rune.

But I also have 30 faith (25 hard points +5 talisman), 35 vigor and 30 str. So I'll need to be mid level 80s to be able to wear Scaled Set armor (which is slightly heavier than Clean Rot) without fat rolling and still have a competent build.

You are going to need more vigor though man, 17 with your poor damage from pumping endurance is going to be a nightmare. Just wear mediocre armor or like the twinned set or something until you get closer to level 70 and can invest enough into endurance without making your build non-viable.

Yikes. It's a fair question. Rather than sink 50 hours into a dead character.

It depends. As long as you can wield your weapon I'd say its not necessarily a BAD thing if you're deadset on going a poise tank build. Upgrading your weapon will help more than pure str scaling in terms of damage (unless you've equipped a weapon art that applies the Heavy attribute, then a mix of both is worth since it lowers base stats of the weapon in favor of higher stat scaling). Also there is a talisman that boosts equip load (cant for the life of me remember where it is sadly) so you can also use that to 'cheese' equip load without hyper leveling endurance.
You can always put some more points in vigor then switch back to endurance. People usually end the game around at level 130.

Yes. You don't quite need as much stamina in ER compared to previous souls games and you can up your equip load more if you have Havel's ring and FaP equipped. I'd say 20 endurance is enough for girthy weapons and decent fashion.

rather its a combination of both.
i was watching Mauler's stream earlier, he pumped A LOT of points into vigor and had about 1900-some health, but he still died in 3-4 hits from your average mob because he was running around with no shoes on, and a dress.

contrast that with my character, who has 950 health and using heavy plate, i can take 7-8 hits from those same mobs before i die. that's a 1000 health difference and i still survive better... tell me again how armor does not have an impact?
