It most likely wouldn't get you banned. but I can't be 100% sure on that. I did it all the time in DS3 and was never banned.
Backing up a save was the most commonly recognized way to counter ban risks.
Further, I did precisely this for fun with regards to level. I had a SL26 with +2 weapons that was in NG+6 I could use to troll invaders (and allies, sorry guys) against normally EZ bosses like Vordt/Tree, or Mad Spirit Hodrick phantom in swamps (notorious for his already insane stats in NG+, but mine was NG+6 vs NG low level players trololol), or random aggro anyone crabs/rapport mobs. Great stuff. I even could level up with my millions of souls on hand to any level with any equipment to mold a character to play whatever build I wanted since I had max of nearly everything in the game in terms of upgrade materials/shop items/all equipment/all spells/etc. legitimately farmed and millions of souls saved. Never got banned. I really doubt it will be an issue here since it seems to basically be a modified version of the exact same engine.
Until the first banwave happens. We'll know if there's a sudden uptick of people complaining about bans...
