Quick question: Have you never played like, any other game ever made ever? This is something that happens in basically every single game with collision. It all depends on the hit boxes and whether or not they made each body part an individual hit box, kind of super exact like a fighting game, or if its just a basic cylinder, which would cover everything you need, and work just fine for a game with auto targeting like this.
now, where I do agree, SOME of this is bullshizz, you have to give some leeway to the AI who do not have human intelligence and do not know when they are cheesing you... As a human player you can legitimately outsmart the AI by manipulating it through using its environment. The AI doesnt know this. It is not always prepared for this. You know this. You can almost always take advantage of this. The AI never can. You are ALWAYS at an advantage compared to the AI. So in terms of whether or not this is unfair, I think this brings things up a little more even. Also, enemies do recoil against walls. Fight giants in large gateways and you can literally stand in front of them when they try to swing their sword at you. Theyll hit the wall and bounce off.
Yesterday I was killing an enemy by blasting it through a doorway it couldnt fit.. It just kept running at me and couldnt do any damage.. But one magic attack it was able to do COULD go through the door and hit me. It did not know this. I was just in a position to be hit by it when it shot at me.
Realistically, the way you have to fight dragons by basically line of sighting behind large objects.. The speed at which these move.. IRL you would have no chance and it would just eat you.. Luckily, this isnt real life. Thats why there is magic, dragons, monsters, and you can take a 50 meter fall without taking any damage.
So stop acting like real life rules apply. This is not real life.
I know you want real life rules to apply. But then you also need to start ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about the fact that you can get stabbed by a sword and survive. A 10 ton giant can completely stomp you in to the ground and you just stand up with a little less health, which I guess somehow a little red potion heals? Struck by lightning? No problem either. Just a little health loss. Oh and if you need to jump up a cliff just get on your horse and jump up the big whirlwind which shoots you 600 meters up and you land in safety....
This is not real life.. Stop expecting it to be
You... are seriously off topic here. Have you even seen the initial message? None of what you said applies here.
I killed the mage that sell sorcery when she was captured in a cave instead of her regular location. She's mandatory for a quest. I did go to the NPC. She appear to her regular location.
It work like this, for the npc that are mandatory for quests.
That is not a valid excuse to not address the problem, however.
Honestly, I think it's super funny when it happens. It's been in every soul's installment; it's obvious that From has intentionally left this in. They are just playing us hard. Just like the pause menu doesn't pause anything and I get attacked by some stupid hollow I missed while reading lore in my inventory. Just my opinion and I have no source to back this up, but I believe enemies hitting through walls is 100% intentional. It's one of those "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me". If you know they can do this and they are still hitting you through walls, to your surprise, shame on you.
If they took it out, I would be a little sad because it's so funny when it happens. Perhaps I'm hollow though.
This is where fans of the series are going to be called names because someone is upset about a "feature" (note the quotes) of the entire series.
It simply is what it is. Dark Souls/BloodBorne/Elden Ring and the games before that weren't meant to be simulations accounting for all of these shenanigans in physics - much in the same way, neither Fallout or Skyrim were, either, and no one complains that their immersion is broken because their character can swing a sword at the ground without fracturing their arm. No one complains the game is unfit for playing because being struck by a Crucible Knight should immediately tear your ACL but doesn't. It's simply part of the games. Time to suspend that disbelief.
.... hey to be fair it's only the NPC weapons. Your weapons still suck and don't magically go through walls.
It is literally how every weapon in every AAA title functions. If every NPC in every AAA title recoiled because they were too close to a wall then nearly nothing would be playable.
What? Where are you getting this from? I never seen this kind of jank in another game, let alone actual AAA games…which for record this ain’t one of, Bandai, Sega, those kinds of companies are ranked as AA(yes I know wow it’s a system that goes beyond a single nomenclature!)
This is a AA game folks, AA games charge same price as AAA but like if think these games have same budget or sized teams as other AAA, your just out of your mind
Why jank like this persists, cos this is LITERALLY same game engine over the years, but when look at costs as a business and go “hey should make a new game engine from scratch so we can address the janky bs in our engine?”
Answer always is:
“Yes, if investment in time will produce more revenue.”
With blind fanboys of this franchise and absolute hype train preceded its launch, why ♥♥♥♥ would they ever bother to fix this things?
You've lost your mind. Go fire up the latest title of your choosing. Enemies with melee weapons won't have their weapons bounce against the walls. Dying Light? Enemies don't bounce off of the walls. Fire up Fallout 76 - enemy weapons don't bounce and they can hit you through obstacles. Breath of the Wild? God of War?
What about Battle Goose in Monster Hunter World dropping explosive scales through the top of the tent and killing you? And Kirin with lightning that goes infinitely through the world in both directions (if you are in a cave below him you will still die)?
Even in Destiny you can be struck by an explosion through a wall.
Where have you been? Are you double blinded by blind fanboys to the point of not being able to see obvious stuff?
Zzz
Everyone else isn't blind. You have tunnel vision.
