fromsoft does deserve some hate for the bad PC port tho. I probably didn't get stutters as often as others ( only got them in like 3 fights and a few area loads in the entire game) but it's still annoying.
No, not making a stance about cap is better the com, just a hard fact that one thing does one thing while the other does another.
The UI is fine as is, sure it could be better, but ubisoft of all people trying to tell people that something is ♥♥♥♥ is just sad, as they have plenty of things they could do better themselfs and people could rip on!
Not to forget, bad publicity is still publicity, so it could be just an attempt for attention, so best thing to do is laugh and ignore!
There even was the similar issue with the PC port in some game areas (looking at you BlightTown), and if i remember correctly the modding community did a superb job fixing that.
At the end of the day, From has managed to achieve a way of telling their world fantasy stories in an unstructured way that i personally think is pretty neat (nobody stops you from just blasting through content. Or you can grab bits n pieces from NPCs here and there if you want to).
So far, this is one of the few games where i start a new character form scratch, and even in the starter area i am already getting a lot of different stuff, from NPC characters i did not see before, to a huge dormant giant i stumbled upon while riding, and a huge sphere hunter that suddenly was trying to slash me in half while searching for another NPC.
As for the UI\UX:
The inventory screen in this game is just horrendous. All weapons are separated into categories, but not really displayed as categories, so if you have one filled row of straightswords and one filled row of greatswords it looks like both are just the same category. The inventory screen in Elden Ring is the definition of bare minimum.
Then you also have the useless compass in the middle of the screen. It feels like From didn't trust the player to be able to navigate through the(actually unique and hand-crafted) world, and so needed to throw in a compass. Hell, you also have a blob on your map with an arrow pointing in what direction you're looking at. The compass is 100% unecessary and shouldn't be there(Infact, it should've been an item you can use, like the lantern!).
However, all of these things are very minor and livable, but I do agree that professional reviewers should maintain higher standards and not give out higher scores like candy. While I really really like the game, it's definitely not an 10\10 experience, there's plenty of things that could've been improved about the game.
