I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment, as well as the hidden path ahead messages every five feet along every wall in the game.

It's the first thing i did when i saw MESSAGES EVERYWHERE.

I think if you rate a message poorly, it should damage whoever placed it since rating a message helpfully heals whoever placed it.

I dont understand why the hidden path baits are always the most upvoted ones.

To be fair, the further you get out from the starting area it isn't to horrible. Still a couple of spammers around but I've been saved from more than one ambush due to a well placed message from another player. I always make sure to up rate those.

being fair, the game puts interacting with messages at a low priority, so if you try to interact with a lever with a message on it, you'll just pull the lever. you need to actively switch to the message to read it

Somebody had put message next to ladder. And it prioritized reading the message over climbing the ladder.

I had to find some cheeky angle in hopes of getting onto the ladder, since coming directly straight for it always wanted me to read the same trolly message.

There's so few actual hidden doors for most of the game, I pretty much disregard messages at this point that are near walls and only slap a wall on instinct, which has proven correct so far due to playing the bulk of the Fromsoft library, and frankly boomer shooters. I have placed very few messages, if you find the ancient sleeping dragon's blindspot and see a message saying "do it!!!" that was likely me.

There's a mine I think in the Capital area, South spot, with a ladder climb in a room with one of those Virgin Abductor things. The ladder is slightly bugged so the interact prompt is to the left of the ladder and not right in front of it, but when I went through there it was plastered in messages, and it was literally impossible to grab the ladder and climb it quickly. I killed the Abductor, but the ground was littered in bloodstains and all of them showed players trying to use the ladder in a hurry and then dying from something, probably the Abductor itself.

The messages themselves were all chiding useless ones, like "Death!" and such, so it's obviously a spot people know to chuck messages down to cause someone else problems. All highly rated, probably 99% poor votes.

Wish the system was better. Messages you vote poor should remove a rating and not grant the messenger any bonus HP or even a notification, and if a message drops into the negatives it will be deleted after X amount of time passes or something, the time shortening the higher the negative number becomes, if it reaches like -10 rating it should just instantly be deleted.

Or at the very least all your poor ratings to banish the message from your game world forever. Messages are useless 99% of the time, and the remaining 1% of the time they're just there to hold your hand which I don't want either, plus in this game they're so damn bright and the same colour as item pick ups...who thought that was a good idea?

Honestly I wish I could turn messages off entirely, except for FromSoft placed ones, while keeping ghosts and bloodstains.
