ELDEN RING

Is "G-SYNC" recommended for this game?
I learned from the tearing bug when using a "G-SYNC" monitor that this game forces "vertical sync" to be on.
So, yes, this means that one way to avoid the "V-SYNC" specific symptoms is to use a
That means "G-SYNC" is the way to go, right?

Gsync is only useful for not having tearing (vsync off) or microstuttering (vsync on) when the frame rate is below your monitors refresh rate.

there is a method to enable gsync in game, its easily googled. and it works.

I have a Freesync monitor and for some bloody reason this game, no matter what I tried, does not work with Freesync. You will get tearing no matter what you do. The game somehow hijacks your monitor's refresh rate and locks it at 60 and disables the Freesync.

It is very strange, no other game I have played even does this.

On my gsync compatible monitor I say nay. I prefer vsync in games locked to 60(or nothing at all, some games don't tear, elden ring does though), game feels bit choppy with gsync enabled at this frame rate. Anything under 90 fps really for my 200hz and 280hz screens.

But your monitor might be different so ymmv. I've never had a screen with a real gsync module.

Just gonna spout a random tip, if you're using gsync it'll default to full-screen only but games like elden ring are better in borderless window. With Nvidia inspector you can force gsync to work on borderless window without making it system wide which causes problems.

You don't need to make any changes to the default Gsync behavior (Fullscreen Gsync only), as this game uses Gsync like that even on Borderless, since it's a DX12 game and they implemented this properly.

I have an actual Gsync monitor (with the Gsync chip) and it does work without having to make any change anywhere, in Borderless mode.

Gsync also offers quite low latency comparable to that of playing with Vsync off, as long as you use NVCP Vsync (should be on always for Gsync usage) and make sure your frame-rate is a couple FPS lower than the max refresh rate.

To be honest, the best way I found to play the game is Borderless so I can actually run my screen at its native 240 Hz, and the game just at its default 60 FPS internal limiter....which is really bad as limiters goes, but the actual issues / stutters aren't related to that, I think.
